Hi There

Just about to buy the insurance for my Clio 182 and am having a bit of a dillemma

Admiral / bell / elephant need to know apprentley about any claim evan if its a non fault claim ..... Ive told them about a lorry tyre that hit me on the motorway because he had a blow out and they want £250 EXTRA ...

Do i HAVE to declare this infomation evan tho i didnt lose my NCB , I didnt claim off my insurance infact i didnt evan use my own insurance company i used a non fault claim company

Many Thanks Guys

It's all in the wording imho ;)

If they say have you claimed then no you haven't, the person who did the damage to you claimed to pay for your damages.

If they ask have you had any accidents though rather than claims, then you have to say yes.

Also try Privilege, they are giving good quotes on Renaultsports at the moment and they don't increase your premium for 3rd party claims/non fault accidents.

I'm sure insurance companies just say this to see how may people they can catch out and charge them extra.

If you didn't claim I can't see the point in informing them to be honest.

Like I said it all depends on the wording, some ask if you had any accidents, others ask if you have made any claims :) If they ask have you had any accidnets, and you have but say no, that'll be insurance fraud.

Using the example of the op

Surely if they asked Have you had any accidents the answer would be no. As he hasn't the lorry has.

If they asked have you been involved in any accidents the answer would be yes.

They need to know about non-fault ones too as apparently people who have been in an accident, even when it's not their fault, are more likely to be in an accident. Go figure :p

So yes you do have to tell them. :)

But the point is if someone is involved in an accident but doesn't claim how are your new insurance company going to find out if you don't tell them??

I've just checked directline they ask if you've claimed in the last 3 years

Its sick , im paying another £250 a year now because of that lorrys tyre

Greeeat :)

Evo - Tryed them but its minimum 4 years and i only have 3 :(

well in that case i'd declare it, just like if someone ran into the back of you at a roundabout and you claimed on their insurance

Yes you do. You think thats bad? I've had to pay an extra £100 becuase my MUM was involved in a NON FAULT accident. How great is that? I didn't even remember it had happened as it was like 3 years ago now. They said the claims database flagged it up and although they admitted it was listed on the database as 'Third party admitted liability, cost recovered', it still put my insurance up by £100 as she is a named driver on my policy.

Pathetic.

If there were insurance companies involved at any stage you cannot afford to not declare it, as it's on a big database.

What is the wording of the question they ask?

If you pay the extra, your are entitled to that extra cost back from the third party insurers.
