Which of these two coolers would give better performance for C2D/ C2Q cooling. Both stock and overclocked alike.

I'd go for the Tuniq if I had to pick.

I hear better results come from that one, but unfortunatley I've not had the opportunity to test both.

There both very good coolers, I've currently got the Scythe Ninja Rev. B on my IP35 Pro cooling a Q6600, however, this + fan does block Dimm 1.

The measurements on the TT are bigger so thats a no no for me. I'm replacing the Ninja with the Thermal Right Ultima 90 which is a tad smaller/lighter and offers just as good cooling when partnered with a decent 120mm fan.

One big negative for me with the Ninja is the mounting its a nightmare to clip into the MB, even once its seated it doesnt offer great mounting stability. THe TT I think comes with a mounting plate (which is what you need IMO)

Ive had both...and the TT120 definitely ran my E6600 cooler. Now using the TT120 on a Q6600 clocked to 3.5Gz. Go for the TT.

aha yeah.

given the choice, i'd go for a ninja. for a start, the tuniq will b e a lot louder when reaching those tempreatures. my old scythe was much quieter with its slower spinning fan, and it didnt block airflow anywhere near as badly.

ive had enough of my tuniq quite honestly. when i can be bothered, im installing my thermalright 120 ultra extreme

Mixed reactions then, but on paper the Tuniq does have better cooling. I actually have a Scyth Ninja B at the moment but seeing a lot of people using the Tuniq was considering swapping.

If the increase in noise isn't going to be massive I might just try out the Tuniq when I can afford one.

Thanks for the replys also :)

Edit: About the Scyth blocking dimm 1, this won't be a problem for me soon as I plan to get myself a P182, so I could have the fan facing towards the top case fan instead.

I use the Antec Sonata 3, the fan can fit facing south (re: pic above, but the GFX card is close and would restric air getting to my fan, unfortunately for me where the fan is at the moment is the only place it will go.

Not a problem now as my Ultima from OcUK just turned up! The heatsink plate needs lapping though, there are some hefty spiral machine marks present!!!

Mounting the Tuniq isn't easy either, You have to put a lot of down pressure on each thumbscrew at the same time as turning it for the screw to bite with the mounting plate underneath the board - hard on the fingers, and the its difficult to judge how far you need to screw in. I had a nightmare build last weekend, and suspect that it started with me screwing in too far and the screws touching the case and shorting the board :(.

Off topic - any useful hints for mounting a Tuniq would be appreciatated.

Thanks forthe link Cyber-Mav. Space is a problem for me atm as i'm still using an old Chieftech Dragon which although pretty big large coolers like these are a squeeze, but it shouldn't be a problem once I get the p182.

Well I plan to get either the Abit IP35 Pro or the Gigabyte DS3R aswell, just hope I can get a cooler that will fit either of those boards without covering up dimm slots and they both have copper heatsinks just below the CPU socket. So thats what i'm worried about.

scythe ninja rev B works well for me - keeps things nice and cool and i don;t use a fan on it as it made no difference to the temps what so ever, thus keeps the noise down.

Get a mate and do them two at a time like I did :)
