It's been on Sky news pretty much all morning - our government is planning on giving all pregnant mothers £120.00 in the hope of aiding healthly eating with fresh fruit and vegetables :eek:

I'm against it only if it isn't vouchers... if it is vouchers FOR fruit/veg then fine that aren't exchangeable or sellable.

If it is cash/cheque/general vouchers then they can naff off.
 
My wife's pregnant and I think it's a stupid idea, if she wants to eat fruit, she'll buy it, it's not exactly expensive and we certainly don't need any pointless handouts.
 
hmm, was £200 the other day lol. Completly stupid idea though. Id love to see how they are meant to enforce the spending on 'healthy' food, rather than a pack of 20 B&H or something.

Vouchers ***

Giving more free money to scummy mums only makes the teen mother problem worse... £120 more likely to go on fags, booze and getting the 3 month old's ears pierced. Those who have a clue will already be feeding their kids the right stuff.
 
Hmmm. It is a bit pointless but I know an awful lot of young mum's/young ladies in general that aren't eating properly.

But I think reeducation would be more appropriate....

I have a book upstairs called something like "Is it me or is everything ****". One of the lines really sticks to me: "Eat your ******* greens or you'll die." Apt.
 
They will be expected to take expert professional advice on the advantages of having a proper balanced diet and also giving up drinking and smoking.

Looks like you need to take a lecture and give up fags and booze to get the hand out - if they can prove they've not been drinking or smoking recently that would be worth it in itself.

By the sounds of it, they just need to listen to the advice.

The world is backwards today. I don't drink or smoke, but I pay taxes so that others can drink and smoke... Really... Wtf...
 
while I don't think everyone will spend it on fags and booze I do think that if the mum to be wants to eat healthly for the sake of her baby then she will right from the start of her pregnancy not half through which is when they want to give the money. People will eat what they want and £120 won't change people's diets. The government should save our money.
 
You get a payment of $3,000 down here if you pop out a kid.


Some people just keep pumping them out to get as much as they can =/
 
I really cant understand governments, they give money to Women for being pregnant to eat properly, most educated sensible women do eat healthy and go to pregnancy classes to learn about being pregnant, but no doubt dole scum will love this and be an incentive to have more chav kids.

Most benefits should be vouchers imo. Would hopefully help to reduce benefit fraud and people spending their benefits on gambling/booze/fags etc.

Edit; Oh and make those EMA payments vouchers as well. That way they can only be redeemed on educational things, not going on nights out.

I've always said said that.

Make the weekly money monthly, and in the form of vouchers redeemable at bus/train companies (for travel to college) or for textbooks/literature etc...

Keep the end of term/year one as cash.
 
Idiotic. If you need hand-outs as an incentive to feed your children properly than having children in the first place was probably a poor idea.

Yet more money wasted on dole scum, yay.
