My girl friend and i want to go to New York for Xmas but we need a bit of help...

Basically we have the flights sorted (Virgin) and it comes to £260 and my girl friend has air miles so that's sorted.

The problem we have is accommodation...we've searched a few hotels on Expedia but we're a bit unsure about which part of NY to go and also we're discussing the idea of perhaps renting an apartment instead of a hotel as it would be Xmas time?

Budget is going to be a bit tight but we might be getting a "donation" from parents. Looking at around £750 for 6 nights.

A sudden thought...would it not be cheaper to find a NY hotel/apartment that SELLS in dollars - cheaper/possible?

Around $1500 (So $250 a night?).

So yeah, bit of help needed. :)

I think it may have been mr las vegas himself mr rotty who recommended phoning the hotels themselves rarther than booking it through a company as you will usually get a better deal and can pay in dollars

check craigslist for apartments to rent.

re hotels, almost anywhere on Manhatten is good thse days.

yeah or just book direct through hotels website.

Book directly with the hotel if you can, pretty much all of them can be done on their website.

I took the missus to NYC for her 21st a couple of years back and stayed at The Salisbury. Very nice hotel and ideally located too.

Right, may have found a nice one within budget...Hudson...but still going to look around.
Any other suggestions? :)

Take me with you!

Im gonna go to America one day, i swear :(

Sounds like a wonderful idea, hope you have a great time :D

We did New York at xmas 2 years ago, it was great you'll have an amazing time. Don't pack too many clothes, buy all you need there :D

I won't recommend the hotel we stayed in as it was noisey, just get one that is high up for the amazing views.

I stayed at Hotel 41 which is in Times Square. Was £1,100 for a week for me and my GF in June. Hotel was very clean and pefectly located with subway 30 secs away.
