EU gives up on 'metric Britain'

Keep MPH for roads, Pints for Pubs, and Yards for Golf.

The rest can go.

Pound yer banana! 2 Pound yer pear!
14 shillin's fer yer mellons.

Has anyone noticed in Britain that when its hot, we use the Fahrenheit scale to measure the temp and when its cold, we use Centigrade/Celsius? "Oh its hot today, 90 degrees!", "It was so cold last night, minus 5!" etc.

I'd never even considered the different temperature scales until a conversation with my mum earlier this year.

We'd just got back from holiday and she was asking what the weather was like - I mentioned it was baking, 33 degrees. She had no idea how hot that was and mentioned that the weather at home had been mild, then quoted a temp in Farenheit....which I couldn't relate to either :D

Apart from the cost of changing all the signage (we could spend the money on more worthwhile things), I can't see any reason to retain miles over kilometers. If we changed over it'd take a couple of weeks to adapt and then we wouldn't have any problems*

*well, perhaps some thickies might.

I use weight in stones, pounds, and kg; distance in miles, metres, and centimeters; height in feet and inches (metres and centimetres is just odd); temperature in celcius; pints, and mililitres.

Whatever we use at the moment is how I like it. Metric is for people who suck at maths tbh.
