Processor keeps jumping between 2ghz & 2.6?

Hi,

Im overclocking my E2140, got it to 333 x8 at the mo (2.6).
Anyway, I noticed in CPU-Z that during load its 2.6ghz but once idle to goes down to 2ghz :confused:

Why is it doing this and can I disable it?

Read your motherboard manual, look for a feature called Enhanced Intel Speedstep.

You can turn it off in BIOS should u wish, however I have mine running and its no problem.

Im sure I turned that off in the BIOS when I was overclocking as well. o_0
Odd.

Forgot to mention is the Asus P5K mobo.

Just hit a wierd issue here.

If I disable Speedstep I loose control over the multipliers, and it allways reverts to 6 isntead of 8.
Leave speedstep enabled and i can control my multipliers.
