After hearing the mention of these all possibly been S panels and finding a supplier with a reasonable large quantity of stock I've pulled a few units in. We've also got a fantastic deal on the price too and as such expect these to be on a certain deal of the week soon. :)

Tomorrow I will open a few of these up and see if they are the S-panel. My supplier confirms this is older stock and as such the chances of these possibly been S-panels seems pretty good. Plus from the comments on these forums some people seem to believe that all 223BW's feature S-panels, is this true?

Remember our current price is good, very competitive however I am gonna drop the price further for our weekly deals making OcUK the cheapest. :)

P.S. I see its 21.6", is it really any smaller than 22"?

Behardware reported that Samsung claim all stock of the 223BW will be free of the panel lottery, although whether this happens remains to be seen i guess :)

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/6.htm#samsung_new22

It's the same size as the SM226BW as well, in fact should be same Samsung TN Film panel, so goodness knows why they have gone for 21.6" :p

Hi there

So this is exactly the same size as the 226BW then?

Does that mean this is truly a 22" screen or are all 22" screens actually 21.6" to be exact?

I shall check our stock tomorrow and if they are S-panels I will add it to the product description as these should be easier to guarantee the panel due to them now no longer in production and only a few hundred left.

yeah thats a very odd one, Samsung list it as 21.6" on their site too! i would assume it's actually officially 21.6" for all these 22" models if you measured them accurately, but all manuf round it up to 22" which makes sense. Samsung don't make any panels which are 21.6" either, so it must surely be 22", the same size as the SM226BW

Thicker bezel ? PErhaps this takes up a little of the "viewable area" ?
Then it will surely be the exact same panel too ??
All very Odd !

HI there

OK had a look at one, in fact its running now.

No panel information on the back unfortunately and manufacturer date is July 2007.

However it looks fantastic, very very sharp, usual viewing angles you can expect from a TN panel but colours, sharpness all look fine. :)

Anyway I can't tell what the panel is in these and no I am not willing to pull the monitor apart?

What kind of settings are people using on 226BW's and so on?

Overall if I had bought one of these I'd be happy with it.

Oh and to clear Samsung list these as 21.6" but the size of the panel is identical to the 226BW so its definetely a 22". :)

Can I get a job being the guy that finds the images of the birds to put on the monitors please. :)

So what is the actual difference between this and the SM226BW? Just price and responce time and a tiny bit smaller?

Hi there

Thats my job! :)

The only difference I can see between the 223BW and 226BW is just the response time, thats it! The 223BW and 226BW are identical in size, let me repeat they are identical and both same resolution.

Yes the 223BW is cheaper and even though I should not say it if I was buying irrelevant of budget I'd get the 223BW because from what I've seen 5ms panels are generally better all round over 2ms panels.

I've got this Samsung side-by-side with an Acer 2216W and the difference in quality, colours is absolutely staggering. I should not say this as we sell the Acer's too but the Samsung is night and day better. :)
