thanks for the reply
it dont have to be the 8800
as i said just a cheap temp upgrade hoping for
a drop in price of the higher end cards.
will thert be a noticable improvement going from the
x1600 to the 8600
thanks

Well if you arent too worried about DX10 at the momment (and i wouldnt be) then i would get the above. It will play most games at a great pace and its cheap too. Then you can invest in a proper 8800 series card like an 8800 or the new chips that are out next year.

The 8600 is hampererd by slow memory and the Ati equivalent is even worse. My X1900Xt will eat both for breakfast and its over a year old.

im thinking the 1950pro 512mb card is best option
talked to a mate at pub and he thinks the 2600 are better,
because they were releaed later so must be better?
myself i think the 1950pro is more suited to my setup.... or maybe the
hehe.
thanks all for advise
ill prob go for the 1950pro as a temp upgrade and struggel to choose between
ati and nvidia in a few months
all the best

the 1950 is faster but the 2600 handles media much better, plus its still very good for gaming..
