Somewhere in the middle.
Been watching a few repeats lately on digital,

was wondering what you thought were some of the best episodes from this classic series?

I guess "Toombs" was one of my favourites when i was younger.

That was the one with the guy who could stretch into small areas etc.

Hard to choose really as I haven't seen it in so long. Aside from the obvious choices, the first episode I saw was quite interesting, was set in the Arctic somewhere and there were these worms in the Ice that could infest people and start making them crazy.

Had fantastic tension to the episode which was heightened by the fact that I didn't know who Mulder and Scully were (i.e. I didn't know which characters were guarenteed to survive).

Edit: another memorable one was in some forest with these weird swarms of green insects: http://www.tv.com/the-x-files/darkness-falls/episode/510/summary.html

As an aside I think after a while X-files got a bit too bogged down with 'conspiracy theory' type episodes - a lot of the best episodes were in fact practically 'standalone' ones involving weird freaks of nature etc like the above.

I really liked the one Stephen King made, cant remember which one it was though :p

EDIT: Chinga (1998) - Scully takes a much needed vacation in New England. When she arrives at a grocery store, Scully encounters several people who have clawed their own eyes. Scully assists the local police department in discovering the cause of this unusual occurrence. Scully's investigations lead her to a single mother with a disturbed little girl and her even more disturbing doll.

If anyones interested, there is a second x-files movie on the way : http://imdb.com/title/tt0443701/

Iirc there is one episode where there is a woman, a genie I think. She granted wishes to people but with severe consequences eg; one person in the episode wanted to be invisible, his wish was granted but obviously no one could see him. He was promtly run over by a car or truck.

Eventually Mulder got hold of the genie, iirc she grants 2 wishes!?! He wished for world peace. poof then there was world peace, excpet there was no-one on the earth, no cars nothing. For his second wish Mulder wrote down a huge dossier on a single wish making sure it was all airtight so to speak.

Cracking episode.

EDIT: Is the post above mine referring to my episode? Gaddamn how did I miss that post.:o

The one that was very tongue in cheek with Jesse The Body Ventura in and the one that chroncles the Cancer Mans life are my 2 favourites.

Bad Blood
think it starts with fox chasing a vamp and staking him only to find he had fake fangs!!

absolutely brilliant comedy episode with obsessive compulsive vampires, the scene with fox on the bed drugged up and throws a bag of seeds all over the room, soo funny as the vamp has to stop and pick them all up

also the way they both interpret the scenes with Fox making out Scully is always flirting twith the sherrif

That's the one with Owen Wilsons brother in it as the handsome/imbred sheriff isn't it? If so, very good.

Deep Throat, was episode 2, always loved the ending Mulder "They are here ain't they" Deep Throat "Mr Mulder, THEY have been here for a very very long time

Also the one they did like an episode of cops with the werewolf lol

thats the one, luke wilson plays the sheriff ... tis really funny when fox is telling his version of events and the sheriff has really bad crooked teeth !! hah

Toombs was the first that came to mind for me also. Can't really recall any other than that one.

Same for me, what a great two parter. Think the first of which was about episode 3 of x files, what a great start it got off to, shame it went so downhill. :(

I was a huge fan of the X-Files, but it did go on for way too long. Trouble is apart from the obvious Toombs examples, I find it very difficult to nail down any individual episodes. :( Possibly a warning to the likes of Lost and Heroes... quit while your ahead.

But I do remember two things. 1) The first series was the best. 2) For a brief period Gillian Anderson/Dana Scully was everything I ever wanted in a woman! :D

Jose Chungs from Outer Space - was a brilliant episode. Half way through an autopsy on a grey Scully finds a zip and realises it's a man in a suit.

There was also an episode by Darin Morgan about a carnival which features the unforgettable line 'We're exhuming your....potato'

EDIT: It was called Humbug
