My N95 had been playing up for a while; firstly deciding to delete all my contacts and then not sending text messages at all. I took it into the O2 shop in Newton Abbot and they seemed to fix it for a week then it happened again. Went back, fixed for a night then went again....see a pattern emerging? :p

Anyway so I took it in for repair (after speaking to Nokia UK Care basically saying they didn't have a clue what the problem was) and had a loan phone for a couple of weeks. I got the phone back yesterday and they said the problem had been identified and been successfully fixed. I went home, put my SIM back in, tried to send a text.....exactly the same! All my texts were still on there and so was all the software, it was like they hadn't done a thing

I went into O2 and took it back and agreed to give me a replacement, but I didn't want another N95 as I was fed up with all the problems! So after having Nokia since having a phone:

3310 x2
6820
6670
3230
N91
N95

I now own an SE K810i! She's still charging at the mo, but as i'm new to SE i'm just wondering if anyone knows of any useful tips/tricks/software/utilities to get the best out of it?

Any help appreciated muchly, i'm very happy :D

i loaded google earth on my k810 before, great app for when you get a unlimited data scheme going on. works like the desktop , gives you directions etc. http://www.google.com/gmm/index.html

im doing some reading on patching the file system with this phone, this gives you the ability to listen to radio without the headset connected.

turning your white list into a black list so you can block any one of your contacts.

software i can recommend is opera 4 beta 2 http://www.operamini.com/beta/

a great browser that renders pages in a way that gives you the full blown internet , no scaling.

Sony phones are good i have had a few now, my current one is a W850i but i am waiting for the new K850i to come out.

i haven't had a nokia since my 7650....i think thats what model it was :D

It gives you a lot more than that! I've done this with my K810i. So if you want any help or anything, fire away :)

Definintely recommend MyPhoneExplorer, great program and far better than the bundled Sony software.

If you feel secure breaking into the phone's internal filesystem (it's not exactly an easy nor safe process) then you can get a lot of great modifications out of it. But a wrong move can render the entire phone ununsable. If you're careful and do it right though, as I said, some of the things you can do are great:
- Change the menu icons & layout
- Change the camera driver
- Whitelist into blacklist
- Change automatic keylock timeouts
- Change startup/shutdown splashes
and a lot more :)

If you use Gmail/Googlemail, their mobile app is good and very light on bandwidth, as is Opera Mini.

For MSN, I'd recommend mig33.

If I think of anything else I'll add to this post :)

Just got my k810i and I'm delighted too.

I've suffered with a Samsung D600 for a year, and it's a great relief to be back to a SE phone (I had a k750i a couple of years back).

Opera mini is great, and mig33 works great for MSN!
:D
