Hey everyone, time for another fantastic PLAYSTATION Store update. First off, you’ll notice that we’ve updated some of the thumbnails in the Store. There are new genres for the Game Demos category. Hopefully, this makes it easier to get to the content you want. Oh, and speaking of content, we’ve heard a lot of folks asking about the NHL Demo and Poker and yes, we’ve got them both this week — and a whole lot more. Check it out.

New downloadable games:
• PixelJunk Racers ($6.99) - A single and multi-player slot car racing game, with 32 modes, 10 tracks and online rankings.
• High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition ($9.99) Ante up! Play limit or no-limit poker in five different game types. There’s single player mode or you can play up to five others online.

Demos, demos and more demos:
• PixelJunk Racers
• Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground
• NHL 08
• Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
• FIFA 08

Of course, more movie trailers and videos and wallpapers for your favorite new and upcoming games:
• Everyday Shooter trailer
• Warhawk trailer
• Lair Behind the Scenes video
• Feel the Noise trailer
• Juiced 2 trailer
• High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition trailer
• Soul Calibur IV trailer
• High Stakes: Poker wallpaper
• 2 PixelJunk Racer wallpapers
• Folklore wallpaper

And finally, we also have a free music track from our favorite dragon game, Lair.

Not in the US store yet probably arrive late tonight anyway im going to get the poker game and fleece some yanks (or not), thats worth a £5!

I think I'll buy PixelJunk Racers and Poker and try the FIFA demo. Maybe grab the wallpapers as well.

Wow, just logged into PSN Store, and then onto here to report what I saw, and found somebody already made a post. ;)
First things I spotted were the FIFA'08, Harry Potter and NBA Live 2008 demos. Gunna have a browse about and queue some downloads up methinks :)

V1N.

EDIT: Oh, you were talking about the US store? It was the UK store I noticed the stuff on. Got Fifa'08 and Harry Potter downloading from there for now. Noticed the PSN was acting a little different. Normally when I want to add multiple things, I add the first one, go to the "PREV" tab, and then add the next one. This evening, the PREV tab isn't working, for me anyway. Had to exit the store, to add the next download. Also noticed, that normally when you start to download something, it tells you how much HDD space is left on your PS3, and this time it didn't. Maybe something to do with the firmware update this morning? Oh well, I'll off to check out the US store now then, see if I can find that poker game you guys were talking about

God the EU updates are a joke compared to the US store...

(And I cant create a US account due to an error, before anyone suggests it :()

well so far it seems the demos are available on the EU store and not on the US store as of yet, or at least the ones V1N listed are anyway

Borrow someone elses account. Easy.

Its not easy, because the problem lies with not being able to connect to the US servers. Tried everything I can think of (including clearing data, restoring original settings) all the correct ports are forwarded too.

Oh right. Never heard of that before. what happens if you try to sign in with an ID that is already associated with a US account?

Just a quick update, US store has updated now. Time for me to sacrificing moths so that Poker will come over next week or my Entropay card will work.

No idea because I havent tried it. But Im almost certain that it would be the same result. It comes back with the error instantly (same as if you tried signing into say xbox live with the ethernet cable unplugged)

I gave up trying last week since its been like this for 7 weeks or so now (since I first got my PS3). I'm just bitter since the EU store is a joke in comparison with its 2 trailers a week and if were lucky we get a Demo.

Hello mate.

Did you get the Poker game?

I was just wondering if it was any good?

I was recently looking at the World Series of Poker 2008 for the PS3, at the Canadian store, but at £28.99, couldn't bring myself to spend that amount on a Poker game... yet... I may have to scour about for a review or two. It does feature video from some of the Poker greats, so I'll have to see.

If the one on the US PSN is good though, I may look into that instead... at least, when (if) it makes it to the UK PSN ;)

Just been playing on that Pixel Junk Racers demo too.

I wasn't too sure to start off with, but one I played a few levels, decided it's quite good fun. I can imagine the full game would get pretty hard / frustrating however ;)

Downloaded this and Poker. Pixel Junk Racers could be a lot of fun, There are so many modes!!! Poker was OK, but only played a bit yesterday as I think there was server problems for it.

Had a go on the FIFA'08 Demo.

Was initially impressed.
When it starts up, and you're in front of the goal (though it took me multiple attempts to actually get the ball into the net ;) I've not played a Fifa game in years)

Then onto the match proper, and was quite disappointed with it.
First thing I thought, was shame that it's only rendered at 720p.
This is one game that would've benefitted from the higher res, as I couldn't even read the names on the back of the shirts. Guess I've gotten too used to PC games for that. Framed out a few times too, thankfully not during the game itself, but during the little cut scenes after you score etc.

Also had a game on Harry Potter. Expected total tripe. Wasn't as bad as I'd expected ;) Rendered in 1080p, looks quite flash... suffers some framerate issues though, when you go into the... erm... was it called Great Hall? (Dinner hall anyway). Was more fun waving the wand around, to pick stuff up and throw it around than I'd expected. Still, don't think I'll be rushing out to buy it. I was gunna get Fifa, but after playing the demo, I don't think I'll bother.

Both games had DTS sound too.

Ah well, nice to have some demos to try anyway. I'll give that Fifa another try later, to make sure it's not just my initial feelings making me feel a bit harsh. I just found it annoying to control, and just not "fun"!

Will give Tony Hawks demo a spin later.
