Student loan, it sounds too good to be true :s

How do I cancel my place in the flight? I am going with my friend, his mum and mums b/f, I dont know of any deposit, I just gave them over 100 quid in cash.

What money available? I have nothing, I have 80 quid on my table for spending money on holiday though, I guess I'll cash that into the bank tomorrow and also use that to pay for the bus pass too.

tell them you cant afford to go, if you cant afford to have already paid for the flight i cant imagine it will be much fun going without any money, see if another mutual friend would be itnerested, or any of their family members

Ah i thought you had booked it through a travel agent yourself, im not sure now then

you seem to keep not mentioning about your living arrangements, but would it be unfeasible for your parents to lend you the £300 so you could pay up front?

Student loans woohoo. Mine bought me a set of decks and lots of night out and then a winter season in france when i dropped out.

ofc the default payback amount is real low so it can take a lot of time and even that small interest can build up. It's certianly not free money like me and most of my friends treated it as :p Plus they are ****** usless and overcharged me about £500 in payments and took about 1 year to return it to me...

No it's not. It's just a relatively cheap debt. It's not free, it's not particularly cheap in the long run, and the OP sounds like he is going to end up in a lot of financial difficulty in a few years.

And for the benefit of some posters - it's LOAN, not lone and COLLEGE, not colledge.

Why does it sound like I'm going to end up in financial difficulty in a few years? That loan wont do that, I decided I did not want to take the loan, but my dad was up here and litrally forced me into it, Yes I am 18, but dont go saying then he cant force you and crap like that, you dont know what it's like here so you cant say anything.

Can't I? I beg to differ. I could even go as far as to suggest that as an 18 year old adult it should be your decision as to whether you get into debt or not.
There, I said it. Maybe I don't know the situation, but that doesn't mean I can't make a statement based upon the details given so far in this thread.

Sorry if that doesn't sit well with you.

Maybe if you would care to explain how or why he FORCED you to take out a loan it might be easier to understand. Then again, maybe you don't want to. Your choice. As should be taking on debt.

So if I ever plan to go to Uni, I should still not get a student loan? So were would I get £10,000+ to pay for it, I cretainly would nit be able to afford it.

Suck it up and sell your computer. You don't need a high spec'd machine.. what's more important? A good education or 3DMark scores?

becaus for college it should only be taken out if absoultley needed, your first postt also adds the fact you just think it's free money, that it's not. You want to spend it on upgrades. You weren't even sure if you could get it, then you say your dad is forcing you to take something you don't even know about.
Then your not putting effort into getting a job. You do realise you can't live of your loan at uni, unless you parents give you thousands a year.

By all means do what you want. But all of us have spoken our arguments.

I'm aware you cant live off a loan at uni.

At first I did not say it's free money, I was basically saying what one of the live chat agents said, and there would nothing wrong with using abit for upgrades, anyway, all I wanted was £300 in the end to pay for my bus pass as I know I am not eligible for it to be paid for me, I have checked.

I suppose I can always walk to college, always wondered what it felt like to walk 18 miles..

Jeez. Don't be so dramatic. Downgrade your PC, buy a bus pass. Job done.

What do you think the £300 is for, it's the only way I can "buy" a bus pass for this bus that takes me to college...

I cant actually downgrade my PC, it would incolve selling parts which would then may it unusable since I would not be able to afford buying new lower end parts, I'm going to sell my speakers for it and use my holiday money and the grant I got.
