Superbowl on the Beeb 2008/2009

The BBC are to screen the Superbowl for the next 2 seasons and also show highlights of this years Dolphins v Giants match up at wembley in October.

We (the house) tried to watch the Superbowl last year and it was a joke. Every time I started to get the hang of things a stupid advert break came up.

It's probably a fantastic sport, but since its most famous and televised match isn't continuous enough for me (damnit - one break is all I want please), I'll never watch it.

It was something like 1 advert break every 5 minutes iirc! :eek:

I enjoyed what I saw though.

I've been to an American football game and really didn't understand it that much! They stop every 5 minutes and have about 40 players on each side who change over all the time!

I'm sure it's great... but it confused me!

Prefer Channel's 5s Jonny Gould or Sky's presenter teams to be honest.

Best way to watch NFL is to catch the highlights of the previous days games, or even better record them on Sky+. Thats what I do and it cuts out all the annoying add breaks and means you can just see the game. Also means you can watch it at a more sensible time.

Will probably cut back to the studio where they have a chat. Five do it with the baseball and NFL all the time.

How does an advert break stop you getting the hang of things? Can't remember the rules during that 3 minute break?? :confused:

For the first few games I watched when i was over in the states the adverts did distract from what was going on.

I watched the superbowl on TV when I was in Canada a couple of years ago. The adverts didn't bother me at all. They gave time for everyone watching to give their opinions on the last play.

Great game BUT the adverts over here are almost just as good!! The Superbowl brings out the super adverts. Some of them are just hilarious or just so impressive!
