hi guys,

got a Gigabyte P35-DS4 only running it at 400fsb and it hits 60 load want to get a bit more fsb out of it tbh but dont want it to get to hot, and i have no clue where the temp is mesured.

i stick 120mm fans blowing on the motherboard saves ripping the heatpipes off and usualy does the trick

60 on the motherboard, holey moley !! thats hot !!

Are u sure it's not the CPU ?? cause at about 45 on my ASUS board it starts having major issues,, random crashes, lockups etc...

what case do you have/ are u able to stick some fans in to help move air out of it ??

yes im sure its the mobo, the cpu hits 70 full load, i have a lian li PC7

I'm not familiar with your mobo but that temp could be either the PWM area or perhaps the Northbridge?

If you got a hair-dryer that can blow cold air then get it and have it blowing over different areas of the mobo to see where the reading is coming from.

A high PWM temp is normal and doesn't seem to cause any problems although I prefere to keep this area cool is possible. A high northbridge temp again is normal but you want to keep it cooler than the PWM area.

At 60°C it should be obvious which part of the board is overheating as if you (carefully) feel it with your fingers it will be burning to the touch!

thanks for the tip im not sure where its coming from it just says mobo temp: 60 etc, think im gonna get a temp sensor for a spare 5.25" bay

what are you using to measure the temps.

also what fan setup do you have on the case.

got 120 intake in front, 120 intake on side, 120 exhaust on the back and a 120 in the psu, im using everest ultimate 2006 and intel TAT, fans are zalman which have been tested at 87cfm at full speed

when you check inside the case, if you move you're hand around the coolers, cpu/northbridge etc do you feel any heat off them, are they cool/warm/hot ?

what happens if you drop you're case side off does it still reach the temps ?

yeah idle is about 36 as soon as i run orthos it promptly bumps up to 55-60 ish, by the sound of it, its the NB temp
I reckon its the PWM area around the cpu and if so its nothing to worry about. Does the fan on the CPU blow any air at the components around the cpu socket?

If it is in fact the northbridge you should be able to feel that with your finger (be careful).

My old DS4 NB got really hot compared to other components but that was P965, might still have same layout though!
Didn't affect anything though

hmmm may be a bit tricky theres not much room around thos areas tbh as my cpu cooler is so big, will have a look see when my new gfx card comes

if you;re case is stored in a fairly open space, any chance you could reverse the front/rear fans so the rear one blows air over the cpu cooler and that area to see if that helps ?
