All nice and happy that I get my car back from it's synchro problem on the gearbox and some *expletive* cow in a Peugeot 107 (Registration KB07 KLU) decides that the right hand lane on a small roundabout is for going straight on, queue me stomping on my brakes and smacking into the kerb....

First things first, do I now need to get a new tyre fitted? Bearing in mind I do a lot of hard driving sooo I expect I do...the alloy seems fine (well excluding the big gash obviously)

Secondly is there anything I can do against this person? Taking it through the insurance would be pretty pointless I expect, so can I go to the police station and report them? I doubt they'll be interested but at least it'll make me feel better....

ArgahgahrgahgHAGHhrgAHGrgh!

On the bright side I want to get my wheels done in black so is now an excuse to get them refurbed....

Damn! Couldn't have happened at a worse time!

Does the tyre have a cut in the sidewall? If not, you should be ok. If it's not leaking air and hasn't actually damaged anything, I wouldn't worry about it.

How hard did you hit the kerb?

edit... I can see the gash. I've done some pretty stupid speeds on a gash bigger than that before. Very stupid yes.

IMO that tire is ****** and its time for some new ones.

Thats one mighty gash on it =/

How straight on? 180 degrees or more (as shown on the sign) is right hand entry lane, unless road markings state otherwise.

Probably not very fast at all, a few mph, but obviously a 1200kg car hitting the kerb side on at any speed isn't going to be nice..

I've gone out and had another look at it, it seems the majority of rubber taken off was the 'rim protector' and there doesn't seem to be any leak, but I'm going to go check the pressures later on today once they've cooled down a bit.

If I have to get a new tyre I'll have to, just ruddy annoying to put it mildly.

Sorry to hear that

I'd say people using the right-hand lane on roundabouts to jump the queue is joint first with tailgaiting for my hatelist. Does my head in.

With a chunk like that missing i WOULD definatly get it replaced.

You dont want to mess with tires or you could die:(

No, they're both in second place after the morons who join the roundabout in the left lane and then straight-line it across the inside line without a care in the world whether there's someone in their way.

It depends on the roundabout. I often get **** from people that don't know what they're doing when using some of the roundabouts round here. Like coming out of a shopping centre in Leeds the left lane is left or right at the roundabout and the right lane is right turn only. I go in the left lane because all the right turners are in the right hand lane. The amount of times imbeciles have nearly taking my front wing off swinging straight across me is unreal.

There's another one off J40 of the M1. It is very clear where you should be depending on where you want to go. Beeping horns at me don't help matters when they've already made the mistake.

I've only had these tyres for a month so I'm hoping this time I can blag just having the one tyre fitted.

it depends how you've driven it for the month. You should really replace it anyway, I know I'd have to.

Laaame, well if it has to be done, it has to be done

The offending roundabout...(high quality aerial pics of where I live, not)

Looks to me like right hand lane is fine for going straight on? Unless markings say different.

My marking is a bit wide, but on the roundabout it goes to 2 lanes for about 1, 1.5 cars length, there is enough room for 2 cars on the roundabout, if one is going left/straight on or right anyway!

Well I'm having a new tyre fitted tomorrow now, I wasn't sure but with castle combe next week I didn't wanna risk it, not often you make a quick journey and it costs you £88 :(

Life goes on and I'm sure karma will catch up with them soon enough.
