So I've been looking for a game that recreates that warm fuzzy feeling that Diablo 2 gives and it seems to be between these 2. I've just played the demo of Loki that came with the latezt PCZ and found it really fun, but it doesn't seem to be getting the best reviews. Titan Quest on the other hand i tried the demo of and find quite dull yet it seems to get quite good reviews. Im just reinstalling the TQ demo to give it another bash. Has anyone got either of these games? are they good? and how do they compare to the might D2?

Just playing Loki and I love it and in my mind the closest thing to Diablo. If you visit the dungeons you will here sounds from diablo. The only thing that spoils it is the dungeons are all the same. When you find chests theres usually 3 and one will also go bang.

Played Titan Quest a lot and while its good it just didnt have the diablo feeling.

Well i just tried the titan quest demo again and i've remembered what i didn't like about it, theres no sound effect when you hit an enemy, not like the crunch when you smack a wolf with your mace in loki, pity because the game looks soooo nice. I tried Divine Divinity, can't remember what i thought of it. Never tried beyond divinity though, is that the sequel?

titan quest is good, it isnt really the same as diablo because for me the story isnt as immersive and there isnt a feature like battlenet setup either. Diablo 2 was one of a kind really but Titan quest + expansion is pretty good. Didn't addict me like Diablo 2 did though but I loved Diablo before it.

That Loki looked alright, nothing special.

devine divinity is more like the Ultima games that Diablo form my memory. Same top down view as a Diablo but a massive world you just walk around in and do quests and stuff.

I started Loki, but I've got slightly bored with it. For people thinking about Loki, some things to consider:

1) It uses Starforce to activate it. But it does tell you that.

2) You can use your demo character in the full game.

3) It has the interesting option of asking you, whenever you start, whether you want to resurrect dead monsters or not. Note this feature is slightly bugged if you do use your demo character in the full game.

4) The target lock can easily be broken if the target moves from under the cursor - which is annoying.

5) There are only four characters to chose from. I assume an expansion at some point will add more.

6) I've found archery rather useless, as it has a rather short range.

Titan Quest is ok for the first few levels, but soon gets very boring and repetitive. I would suggest Sacred, can probably get it for pennies these days, and its a lot better than TQ. Not played Loki.

I've played all three. I'd have to say Sacred>Loki>TQ.

And Diablo2 >> all of them...

TQ only really hits its stride when you go to Crete at the end of the first section. Egypt is a bit hit or miss but things pick up again in the Orient. The final area added with the Immortal Throne is also pretty decent.

I guess the main problem I have with it is that they completely nerfed the item drops so for the majority of the game you have masses of grey/white/yellow items dropping which are never really worth using.

All the sets are blue or purple and the chances of completing them without using something like TQ defiler to bump up drop rates are extremely slim. So in the end, while it's maybe fun to complete the game once, there is almost no incentive to go on and finish epic and then legendary (unlike D2 where the game doesn't really come alive until hell difficulty).

I do like this style of game though so I'll have to give Sacred and Loki a go.

I'm looking forward to Sacred2, as I did quite like Sacred1 - the bugs in that were hilarious. Like when you'd turn into a giant potion, or when you got onto your horse and was standing up on it...

Me and the missus have been searching for a new Diablo to play in co-op for years now. Nothing has come even close. Sacred was fun for a while. TQ was fun for a while. DS/DS2 was fun for a while. None of them have the "pick-up-and-play" factor that made Diablo so addictive. I've given up all hope tbh :(

Bringing this back to life to say that I've been playing TQ for the last couple of weeks. Started a new character, and did a basic fighter type: warrior and defence specialities. The final boss was a pig, but on about the sixth attempt I finally got him earlier this evening. Now taking the same character through on Epic. My only criticism is the same one as I think Hellgate:London has: the skills simply aren't much use in most cases. Generally useful skills are nerfed by poor scaling as they level, and long recharge times. This is where D2 scored: putting points into skills really helped. My character in TQ uses almost entirely passive skills, with just two active one.

Try Hellgate: London. Best "Diablo clone" out there.

I have, and I stopped playing it. As I said, it was a nice idea let down by poor execution, in particular the nerfing of just about everything. I know the developers have said it's to avoid Diablo2-style "cooker-cutter" builds, but they've gone to far the other way: most of the skills are actually useless after level one, and some are useless even then, ruined by poor scaling and long recharge times. I know I said TQ has that issue, but H:L is worse. The constant repetition of the same half-dozen sets of scenery got wearing after a while too. I may go back, but I may not.

I think the majority of the skills got reworked with patch 1.0.
The game is at an early stage, so there are lots of things that needs to be tuned. However, the core game engine and mechanics are way better then TQ.
I must add that I play hardcore Elite. Hardcore meaning 1 life only.
That alone is the reason to subscribe.
HArdcore Elite is quite hard :) So you will have enough to do for quite some time.

Nothing will ever compare to Diablo 2. There's such a great feeling when you play that game that no other game gives you. I have completed Titan Quest and absolutely loved it, but nothing i it told me to go back and play more like Diablo 2 did.

Going to download Loki now and see what that's all about.

wow, this is old. Since then I've played through both Titan Quest and Loki (kind of). Titan Quest I really enjoyed, its definitely no Diablo but it has some fun stuff and the non-random levels are a real plus, level design is very nice in places. Loki I'm about 8 hours in, but I got pretty bored and haven't played it for months, its not a bad game as such but its really damn repetitive and there just isn't enough variation in levels or enemies for me.
