I've narrowed my replacement to one of these...what do people think.
I've noticed that the X1950XT is getting harder to get hold of.
I'm looking at £117 for the GTX and about £135 for the Radeon.
Both are retail packages, BNIB from reputable web sources.....I could do with advice :)

Radeon can do AA and HDR, it has better image quality and by quite a bit, it scales better at higher resolutions and the X1950's failure rate is nowhere near that of the 7 series cards.

So yeah the 7900GTX :p lol . Of course the X1950XT ;).

as stated before...the x1950xt beats the 7900 in image quality....but if you want faster framerates and plan on overclocking then the 7900GTX is the better buy...otherwise I would definitely go with the x1950xt

afaik its only the 7900GT that had ridiculous failure rates, the other 7 series cards are as reliable as any other cards...

only reason I'd go for the 1950 would be for FSAA + HDR - the image quality difference is hard to distinguish when actually playing and the performance is pretty close overall between the 2 cards so it really comes down to which you prefer ATi or nVidia, I prefer nVidia myself so would go with the GTX, but if you like ATi better then go for the ATi... you can't really go wrong with either choice.

Pretty much what he said, to be honest. No contest.

No the GTX was affected too, just to a much lower degree. Why do you think they rebadged it as the GTO with underclocked and lower voltage memory after a little while and sold it off much cheaper? :p

Image quality was easy to distinguish too, the 7 Series suffered issues with texture shimmering and all sorts.

You could get the OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
This Week Only Offer = £79.89 inc vat

As cheap as 2nd hand card and still very quick for the price.
