7.1 in HL2 EP2

As title, I click enable 7.1 sound in HL2 EP1 and it always defaults back to 2 speakers im on vista x64 with xfi music, the card is defo set to gaming mode in 7.1 setup, any ideas why ?

Well that's not even out yet so I'll assume you're talking about Ep1.

I'm running an X-Fi Xtreme Music in Vista Ultimate x64 and my surround works great in HL2. All I can really suggest at this point is to download the latest Vista driver .ISO from torrents. Creative responded to the Vista-related slagging by releasing a driver CD that you had to pay for. People obviously ripped it etc so now it's best to just download it and then run the update facility.

really ? interesting, I take it these drivers are not available to download off there website ? or is it just the control panel ?

I've got an Audigy2 and I find the surround in HalfLife to be terrible compared to what I had on XP...

I had that in XP, I fixed by changing Mode to Game mode 1st (obv set up
Creatives Modes 1st).

That creative.iso solved most my vista sound problem, its a must have

Yep, downloaded that as well from a thread on the forums. Wasn't really having issues but it was nice to get a couple of the apps installed.

fyi, if you haven't already seen it they released a new console launcher on the 12th.

Even with the Creative .ISO, there is a newer update to the Creative Console on their site.

I still get a odd glitch where the Volume knobs appear to have Chinese text or little symbols not English for the Vol like 10% 20% etc.
