Mclaren might be in the poo big time [ANCIENT THREAD REVIVAL]

Had McLaren done the honest thing right from the start then they would not have been in any trouble at all,

All that is saying is that Alonso, De La Rosa and Coughlan aren't honest people. If Ron or anyone else 'high up' had found out about what was happening then the situation McLaren are in might be totally different.

Evidence please or stop saying it.

I cant provide any, it's speculation of my own which is the same as anyone else is doing on here. Lots were even before the reasons for the penalty were even given.

I just thought it was a fair question to ask why they havent made moves to sack alonso. If his lawyers haven't made moves to have alonso and pedro removed before the end of the month then I suspect there is a lot more to this than we will ever know.

I understand ron has been busy but hopefully now he will act.

So why hasn't Ferrari been heavily penalised for Stepney's role in all of this then?.

Because ferrari havent broken the rules and regulations. Having one of their employees offer ferrari designs and data isnt illegal. Taking up the offer is.

Besides Stepneys looks like being a criminal investigation for sabotage. I'm sure when that goes to court lots of guts will be spilled. :)

I feel sorry for Ron but less so if he hasn't removed alonso prior to the final race of the season.

Just watching the highlits now. I think alonso's going to have problems at the end of the year. Feel sorry for RD, he tipped the fia about the whole thing anyway. :(

The day after the Coughlan news broke, McLaren released a statement saying no Ferrari info was in their factory or their systems, Ron gave a press conference where he cried at these allegations being made, its now become clear that upper management did know about it and advised the data to be destroyed, Ron knew about it all right, he knows everything that goes on in that team especially as Neale knew about it.

I tend to believe the FIA that they don't find it believable that 3 members of the team could keep it to themselves.

Money, Money oh did I mention MONEY

What a bunch of sad losers particularly the Spanish cheats and MM for still having a dig at RD, why didn't MM just shut the f up

It has shown that F1 is run by a bunch of sad old cronies and is not a worthy championship, but because of the flipping FIA and MM its the only championship.

I am quiet happily cynical towards anyone but MM and AF take the award.

Ok so why wait until Hungary to phone MM, probably because the Spanish bloke was trying to blackmail him, which is now the real issue left.

With regard to the above, doesn't the fact that the info was coming from a then current Ferrari employee have some sort of influence, ie it wasn't exactly all out espionage was it?

Which would make it all the more curious would it not, if Ron doesnt sack and sue Alonso prior to the end of the season.

He must despise the guy now, which is why it would seem all the more strange if he does nothing.

Ron is after all the guy who disliked Villenueve and held a grudge because JV told him to **** off away from his championship celebration party.

I shudder to think how it must irk him to have Alonso in one of his cars ;)

Perhaps now Ron will stop whipping away drivers from teams so early. Both JPM and alonso have been big mistakes.

.
I doubt they will do anything before the end of *** season, it would be bad for there image and they could still win a drivers championship with alonso. They'll do at after the last race.

Looks like McLaren isn't going to appeal :( They're running scared of the sleepy giant that is Max Mosley.

They should have taken this right to the wall so that MM eventually oversteps his mark and causes public outrage (if what's happened so far isn't enough!) There's little doubt in my mind that MM would, if pressured, take this so far as to even cause Ferrari fans to feel sorry for RD and McLaren.

Hell, I already feel sorry for the guy. He apparently has a serious weasel infestation in his team, and it needs sorting out.

When Max offered to stand down a couple of years ago, every team boss including Dennis asked him not too, its not him that makes these decisions, the meeting was attended by all FIA members, and all them had a vote, its a bit unfair to suggest Max is the man behind it all, they heard the evidence, they voted, they came up with the penalty, he is just the man at the top to take the flak.

I even found myself feeling sorry for Ron Dennis , and I've never really liked the guy.

That said I can't quite work out why he hasn't shown Ferdy and Pedro the door and start afresh. They have Hamilton, who could just as easily win the title as Alonso, and the McLaren PR machine could push his clean cut image as part of a new start for the team. McLaren are already down and out this year, and perhaps next year too, so what have they got to lose? Surely even the Spanish sponsors can't back up Alonso and De la Rosa given the evidence and reported blackmail attempt?

As much as one would like to think that Alonso should be shot (not literally!); the bigger picture here is that Mclaren won ZERO races in 2006. Then with a little help from their Ferrari friend and without a doubt a LOT of help from Alonso they produced a car capable of winning the WC.

If they chuck FA at this point they will loose any input, if they are still getting any, from FA about the development of the 2008 car. I guess all these issues are playing on their minds. As good as LH is and I truely hope he wins the WC, he has no experience in leading a team like Mclaren for a WC bid.

I think Sir Frank would have kick the guys sorry ass a long time ago

I can just imagine the cheat at Williams, they don't like prima donas there

I agree but then I dont think Lewis would have got away with swearing at Sir Frank either. Although they all denied that happened as well.

Perhaps Williams aren't cheating hard enough, which is why they are where they are. :(

Sack Alonso put another driver in the car and no one will care about the spanish sponsors. Its all lewis anyway at mclaren, thats gonna bring in more money than alonso ever will now anyway.

Why would it not work?

And I doubt they are unless McLaren told them all from the data they stole
Why would it not work? Because all the cars on the grid are different, which is why everyone doesn't use it? Could you take a setting of my MX-5 and use it on your Golf?
