Hi,
I got in from work this morning at 8am, and went straight to bed. My housemate woke me up at around half 9 saying that they'd just heard a loud bang, and when he looked outside he could see 3 kids looking around the front passenger wing of my car, he naturally woke me up.
I went outside and there is a rather large dent in the front passenger wing, along with scratches/mud as though a football had hit it. The kids were still about so I simply asked 'who kicked the football at the car' - one of them replied, that it was him, and that it was a mistake. Fair play, so I asked to speak to his parents.
His mother came out, and I explained the situation, she asked the boy as well and he admitted it to her, in front of us both. She agreed to pay for the damage. Sound, or so I thought.
I got back into bed, and 15 minutes later i'm woken up by the door, go downstairs and it's the boys father, who has decided that the damage wasn't caused by a football, and that he's not paying a penny. Naturally now i'm fuming.
I've rung the police, who say they'll send a squad car around, but i'm not holding high hopes to not be out of pocket.
What's the situation here, what's likely to happen? Not happy.
