Official Heavenly Sword (PS3) Gameplay thread...

Argh Josh, I could have gotten a free month from you! lol.

Swap Game are always very good, they generally send one (or more depending on rental scheme) immediately.

It's normally a 3 day turnaround from sending a game back to recieving a new one which is excellent. I've never really struggled to get a new game, I got DiRT and The Darkness as soon as they came out.

What is your name on there? Can i still do a referral even though im signed up still?

Just wondering why my internet banking has gone down £10, will have to wait a couple days to see what it was i guess. Maybe it was just a deposit for SG.

Josh

EDIT- Did you receive an email about swap game after signing up? Havnt got anything through.

For me to get a referral I would have had to enter your e-mail address, to which you click the link on it and then sign up from that link. So I can't now :(.

I'm pretty sure I got an e-mail from SwapGame.

You're on the 10 day free trial, however you get billed straight away for that month. You get billed for the month +10 days, the 10 days are a free extension to the month you've just paid for.

Just finished this, fantastic game, best I've played for a long while, and probably the most immersive game mainly due to the cut scenes since FFVII

For anyone struggling for the last boss, it really isnt difficult if you do two things. Master the countering so you can send his ranged attacks back, and they arent too fast so its easily done

Secondly, stay in speed stance the whole time in close combat, hit him 4 times quickly with square, roll around the back of him and repeat, easy as that

Gets you max rating on each as well

I can't comment, but maybe PS3 gamers are rating it so highly as it's the best game on the PS3, where as IGN and Gamespot (and Edge etc..) rate it overall in comparison to all rival games.

We could do with someone who owns both a 360 and PS3 to post their thoughts, I've avoided it because of all the bad reviews, but from what people on here are saying it sounds bloody good!

I don't think thats the case, i think its just a really good game full stop. To be honest i don't know why its scored so low some places.

Oh trust me it is mate

This is the first game I have bought for my PS3 since its release, so my 360 has had all my attention

But this game is just something else

It is rather short, but to be honest, first time you play it through, you wont have mastered the combat system. I'm playing it through on Hell Mode now, and I must admit I am getting rather good at combat and the game just got so much more fun

The game is so immersive as well. The cut scenes make you wonder whether it is still a game or a blockbuster movie.

Graphically, it's up there with anything out there on the market today, its just superb. Everything just looks so real, and some of the settings just add that extra element that make this an AAA title. It should be noted that occasionaly you get the odd slow down, but even that cant take away much from this game

I seriously recommend anyone go buy this game, its not as if its expensive, 35 is the most expensive I've seen in the shops which is good for a brand new PS3 game. It may be short but you'll play through it again and again guarenteed if you enjoy this type of game.

Well almost finished the game now. The game is good, fairly fun, but the only downpoint is the shortness of the game.

Gotta admit, love King Bohan's character :D

My Mrs. is going to kill me! lol

Make her play the demo first ;)

My wife is a complete non-gamer, she played the demo and insist we buy it :p

I picked it up yesterday, spent the day tiling the bathroom and I'm right at the end of chapter 3. This *isn't* going to last long, but the perfectionists will want every single glyph, plenty of replay value ;) :p

I take back everything i've said, Heavenly sword is a great little game.

Visually it's the most impressive i've seen this gen and the cutscenes are quite easily the best in any video game. The combat system, while not as deep or as challenging as something like Ninja Gaiden or as freeform as DMC, works well. It is possible to button mash yourself from start to finish - my main gripe with this game being that it is way too easy - but there is depth if you choose to look for it. Heavenly Sword is a short game - you could finish it in 2 or 3 sittings - and I did find a few of the boss battles and ranged sections to be a little repetitive, but the majority of the game was a joy from start to finish.

tbh I can't understand some of the poorer reviews at all. Edge's 6/10 makes absolutely no sense to me as this is as solid as an 8/10 gets. Sure, it's too short and easy - Heavenly Sword is the perfect rental - and it doesn't demand much from the player, but for 8 hours you're caught up in a wonderful adventure. It's rare that I get this engrossed in a video game. Technically it's superb - I don't think the 360 could handle Heavenly Sword - and it has been one of the few titles to come out this generation that really screams 'next gen' to me. Bare in mind that I'm a huge anime/ninja fan so am probably a little biased, but for the short time it lasted I enjoyed Heavely Sword as much as any game this generation, and far more than most.

Had it beon longer and more challenging Heavenly Sword could easily have been my favourite game this generation. Fingers crossed for the sequel.

Surely longevity has a lot to do with it? That's one of the major points that goes into a games scores. As does repitition. This is a repetative and short game.

Graphically it's very nice, however ingame it's not in the same league as Gears of War for me, but the cut-scenes are terrific.

That's what makes me very wary about listening to folks with just a PS3. I only want the cream of the crop on all consoles.
