Looking to OC the CPU to around 3ghz..... Will it be quite easy to reach that with this kit?

How does all this sound, I have already ordered it.....

Just worried that everything dont fit or wont work together :)

Is the Noctua gonna be able to cool my Q6600 to a decent level - Ive heard its good and quiet :)

Thanks

All looks good, and the cooler is a real beauty - you'll get 3GHz with ease on this setup.

I'd imagine so, yes.

Sounds great :) It'll all fit together aswell, and the Noctua fits nicely on the DS3R.

Yep, it's a great cooler, one of the more common ones for overclockers for air cooling.

P182 is the same price and has a few more features. Other than that looks pretty nice.
Errr and i think these posts work better if its prior to purchasing lol :)

lol ok mate :)

Its been over 2 years since ive built......

Just stick it all together and it should post? Do I need to do anything special for the memory?

Yeah stick it all together and you should be rocking. The only thing you *may* have to change is the memory timings. At default all RAM boots up at 1.8v, even sticks that require 2.2v for their recommended timings because DDR2 boards always boot up RAM with 1.8v for compatability. Then you can alter whatever in the BIOS. I'm not sure if the Corsair stuff runs at 4-4-4-12 at 1.8v, but if not and it's at 5-5-5-15 when you get Windows loaded in and check then you can enter the BIOS and reduce the timings to 4-4-4-12 from 5-5-5-15 and change the voltage (if needed) accordingly.

yeah i think it is 2.1 and 4-4-4-12 :) So its best to do this when you have got it up and running and installed windows etc.....?

Yeah, just get it all banged together first, install Windows, get all your drivers on and installed whatever applications to get fully sorted. Then go into BIOS and adjust whatever you have to for the RAM to get it the recommended settings. You can do it before hand but I would just do it after you have got everything else sorted.
