Hey. Well my current monitor is only a 19" and can only support a maximum of 1280x1024 and it is likely to stay like this for another year or so. So what i wanted to know is if i was to buy a G80 GTX do you think id be able to run pretty much every game that comes out for about a year on highest settings considering it will be at a lower res then most people.

Well i wanted to get a G90 but they arnt going to be out in november by the look of it and at this resolution its total overkill, even though if i got one of them chances are id not upgrade for another 2 years or so.

Yeah its mid-range G92 cards coming out in November, 8600 replacements, gona be the 8700's so they rekon, wont be a high end card from em till they get some competiton for their GTX/Ultra, and thats supposedly not till next year some time. :)

GTX will last ages at that res, and its at a cracking price now to. :D

Didn't know they even sold oem's.

What things would i be missing? Does oem come with the coolers on it etc? and what cables would i get if i didn't get oem.

OEMS just come in a plain box, probably just the card, may have the cables, and have the big carry handle on them for fitting in all those Dell cases etc..., but that comes off easily via a couple of screws, and it probably only has a 12 month warranty, but if you think you'll be upgrading to a newer card before a year is up, then you may as well buy it, end of the days its a GTX just like BFG/EVGA etc... :)

IIRC you get the same cables and such however you have less warranty (Only 1 year on the OEM) and no t-shirts/game bundles.

Same coolers as the other GTX cards unless you buy the ASC3 ones, the OEM GTX's clock just as well as all the others.

Got one yesterday. It's an Nvidia reference card with a handle, comes in an antistatic case in a long box with square padding. It comes with the DVI connector, an sli bridge and a driver disk. I didn't get a cable. Very impressed with it, though.

Cheers,

Blue

not sure i like the idea of only 1 year warrenty though. Depending on when i get a new screen would depend on when i get a new card really. A year was an estimate. It could be anywhere up to two years but i doubt any longer over 2 years.

Plus resell ability without a warrenty i would imagin is worse.

I game at 1280. I had always intended to get a bigger monitor, but I'm quite happy with things as they are.

GTX is a rocket of a card. Whether it will last another year is anyone's guess

I'd give it 6 months.

i gues ive most probably screwed my self if i buy in november as if i was to upgrade every year or two and nvida keeps bringing high range ones out in february im going to be behind lol. But i cant wait any longer then november this year.

When I posted the same question on here people told me the GTX would be overkill (for that resolution) and reccomended the GTS or even the X1950.

It's because of the Crysis specs. I'm sure it's going to be 1280x1024 for max settings on the 8800GTS and 1600x1200 for the GTX. Take this with a pinch of salt until we can all get a feel for Crysis when the demo is here.
