Fifa 08 demo (360)

It's NOT my opinion. It's actually the game engine itself. It was built from the ground up to be almost totally free in terms of team movement.

:o

So you aint got an opinion, but believe EA :p

Anyway anyone that thinks Pro Evo 2 is a good game obviously does not think the same as me, So what does this freedom do? Players play in the position you ask them too, or run around like headless chickens regardless? And again do the AI test I suggested, see the great AI in action, please why are you kidding yourself?

"This year, FIFA 08 takes its second step into the next-generation. Last year, we kicked off the next-generation by introducing a new engine and stunning ball physics. This year, we are introducing new gameplay, new modes and a new feeling of football finesse," said Andrew Wilson, Executive Producer for FIFA 08.

EA seems to suggest it's not a brand new engine either

I never said 08 was, 07 was. 08 is heavily tweaked.
The problem I'm getting at is that PES6 is still the same engine as PES1 and you can tell.

As for Pro Evo 2 not being good!? Are you crazy! It was awesome!

Very true, although I wouldn't recommend going back to it unless you want your memories spoiled. It has not stood the test of time.

Pro Evo 2 was way too fast and way too easy to dribble the length of the pitch and score at will, it was a big step down from Pro Evo, I can still recall the outrage at Evo Web and thankfully option files were released that slowed the game down and balanced out the defending, but a good game that replicated football it was not IMO.

I still don't see any evidence of this freedom in the Fifa engine, another 2 games tonight, the formations I picked were stuck too, no players just deciding to bomb up field, most of them needing to be told to begin a run, same old same old, I already said its better than 07 which would not be hard, but to me it feels forced, does not feel natural, does not feel like football, went onto Pro Evo, few games online, my wing backs bombing forward as I requested, my 2 midfielders tracking back to pick up the danger men, forwards running into space as asked, wonderful.

I know it's a different argument, but I actually think the original Pro Evo might be the worst of the whole series. Considering how good ISS Pro Evolution 1 and 2 were, and given the fact that it was the first next gen version, what we ended up with was a huge let down.

2 followed the common trend of hating each new version of Pro Evo at first, but given time it was easily worthy of the Pro Evo name. 2nd only to 4 imo. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the people who didn't like Pro Evo 2 are the kind that didn't bother pushing through the bedding in period.

Turn all assistance off in Fifa 08 then your see how much freedom Fifa has compared to PES.

I have played PES for many years and had so many games i couldnt possibly guess the number but there are faults in PES and rail system is one. I like PES but Fifa freedom wise is much better i agree on responsiveness but this can be something thats tweaked very easily but for me it does not annoy me that much. And another thing it has same regurgitated Master League which quite frankly is a bore fest imo at least EA is building steps with new mode called Be a Pro. In fact Konami have included a mode quite similar Fantasista on Winning Eleven J League on PS2 yet its not in next gen this year.

Both game are far from perfect and tbh i dont think we will see perfect for quite a while yet granted PES 2008 not out yet but dont see much change coming.

The faults of PES are something that myself and bingham67 have talked about many, many times on MSN and we are both in agreeance that PES is the best football series, but it has major flaws which are difficult to fix on an old engine.

The problem with eastern companies is that all too often they get away with not updating their engines/graphics etc.. due to their home market, however you don't really get away with that in the West and as a result PES is coming in for a rough ride.

Another thing thats crap in PES is crossing, near post, far post or ground. In fifa you can control height and power. Its a much much better system, that leads to crosses looking far more like real life. PES crosses all end up looking the same, leading to very similar goals.

Not tried holding the left trigger (or bumper depending on your configuration) and then tapping B once then?

Who from?

You and your mates?

Still gets better reviews than Fifa every year I am sure because it plays better, which thankfully is still the key points to games :)

What does that do then? theres nothing about that in the manual (im looking at it now)

we have B for high cross, B x 2 for low cross, B x 3 for ground cross. Press right trigger to loft it high into the air, press LB and B to cross from anywhere.

it's actually down as "early cross" in the manual. i use the left trigger because i changed my controller config back to the old pes 4 and 5 controls.

anyway, i find doing an "early cross" from the normal crossing positions can be quite effective. they seem to pick out/aim for individual players rathing that hitting and hoping.

worth a try. see what you think.

Whilst it's not total control of the power of the cross, if you hold the button it delivers a far harder cross than just tapping the button.

Surely you must see that pressing b is slightly easier than LB then move right thumbstick, then click it and hold for the required power? There is no possible way you can argue that PES system is better.
