2900pro 512bit Interface Confirmed.....by HIS

There are many threads on the performance of the 8800gts v 2900xt but if
by 8800 you mean gtx then get a gtx. As those games are not out can't say
if any of those cards will run those games on full detail but at that res i
think they probably will.

but i read somewhere that the 2900pro is pci-e 2.0 which means it won't work on some motherboards that as pci-e 1.0

aye spose i better wait till these pro's come in stock and see what ppl make of them :)

i think the 2900pro will have 256-bit memory interface. because if it has 512-bit memory interface they'll be no point of the 2900xt.,because it would be only the clock that would be different....

After the late release of the X2900XT and it still not being up to the task of beating the 8800GTX it could well be true.

I reckon more people have GTS's than GTX's. If the X2900 Pro can eradicate the need for any GTS then it would be a great move by AMD/ATI but a little bit costly.

Who knows though?. It won't be long till we find out :).

Seems quite likely that it will be! Also a 256-bit mem bus is still great! Well there is a point to the lower clocked cards, they wont reach XT levels of clocks and they will start to take some sales from the 8800series which is what they are trying to do. the £170 price is ideal with the specs stated by HiS and I am just hoping they stay the same!

Hi there

RV670 is the revised core, which is 55nm I believe, expect those November time. :)

The 2900 Pro is a short term product to give ATI the edge over the next couple of months. From what I can gather from the ATI presentation is the Pro is just a downclocked XT, but will double check the powerpoint presentation on Monday.

These are available from OcUK now with stock due sometime this month from Sapphire and HIS, then expect Asus to follow later:-

BUY NOW!!

As always another first for OcUK! :)

Anyways Gibbo your ETA on the cards is the 30th of September, is that a confirmed date or just what your going with since they could arrive any week now?

Could say the same about the 8800 Ultra yet they still sell well

Indeed they do and those prices are slowly creeping down. I think if this turns out to be just a downclocked XT then this is a master stroke by ATi and should give them a nice sales boost! One thing that grabs me over the 320mb GTS is the fact it had 512mb of ram which as we've seen so far can be quite useful ;)

Hi there

Thats a safe date, stock will hopefully arrive before then. :)

I think it is actually 512-Bit, these cards are identical in everyway to the 2900 XT, apart from the clock speeds. When I am in work tomorrow I shall load up the powerpoint presentation I have and double confirm the memory interface on the 2900 Pro and let you guys know if they really are just a downclocked 2900 XT. :)

Whats with it having 5.1 surround sound? Have i missed somthing?

Also, id be tempted to get these in crossfire :P

Are there any good clocking boards like P35 which have at lesat an 8x lane for the second card? As i still wana overclock a Q6600 GO to around 3.5/6

Also does crossfire work with all games unlike sli? Or does it need to be coded for games just like SLI? I rember crossfire being better?

MM a lot of questionmarks :P
