what do you like?
there's some pretty good shopping in the bull ring and the mailbox
loads of stuff to do, museums, art gallery, cadbury world, nec, nia
plus some pretty fun places to out at night
what were you after?

Millennium point, Bullring, NIA, Broad street, Canal basin/Brindley Place, Mailbox, Arcadian Centre, Jewellery Quarter, Sea Life Centre, Symphony Hall, Edgbaston.. Probably loads more that I just can't think of at the moment.

Plenty of nice bars in the city centre from Hagley road (which I presume you're staying on, not Hadley?).

Nice bars can be found around and on Broad Street, the better, nicer bars are around the back of Broad Street such as Brindley place. There is also the Mailbox, that's got lots of more upmarket fancy bars and restaurants to choose from.

If you're working in the day, there's shedloads of cinemas and other entertainment attractions that will usually meet at least one of your tastes.

Depending on how far down you are on Hagley Road, you'll be able to walk to Broad street, but if you're feeling lazy, just taxi/bus it down.

bromsgrove is not 'birmingham'
i have spent almost my whole life campaigning against that!
it's worcester! face it man!

but to echo others, broad street is a pretty fun night out
and if you go to edgbaston, make the effort to walk over the road to cannon hill park and see the birmingham wildlife park - it's fantastic!

It's Birmingham, do us all a favour and detonate a nuclear bomb, the place is a **** hole.

Take a look at Birmingham New Street, this sums up Birmingham as a place nicely!

Sorry to all you brums out there, but seriously your city has to be one of the minging places in the world.

It's certainly not that bad these days, the City has really cleaned up in the last few years, and especially around the new street, high street and bull ring area. There's still a huge excess of chavvy scum around, which doesn't help matters, but if you ignore that, there's not that much wrong with it. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than some cities I've been to.

I dont hate Birmingham or the people from there. But the city is certainly one of the most depressing I visit. My comments on New Street are shared by most people I know from Birmingham. The problem I guess is that Birmingham hasnn't enjoyed the rapid progress in "regeneration" like Manchester and to a lesser extent Bristol.

My post was more intended as a laugh, but I do think Birmingham needs a LOT of investment and soon
