Hey all, I've had this pc for about a year and its been sat happily doing its job. Recently though, it 'exploded' and sparks came out the back. I havent tested it since but I assume it is now faulty (PSU's contain a charge even when not pluged in, I do not want to risk my life)...

I heard that hiper have a 3 year warranty on PSU's it would be great if they would fix it/replace it... It would save me some cash for other things. Does anyone have advise on what I should do to get this fixed?

The PSU still has the 'warranty void if removed' sticker, which states 2006/04 so it is still in warranty.

I know that OC recently updated there site (a few months back, changed layout it seems) and I cannot find my order history. Im 100% sure it was bourght from OC along with my motherboard and cpu. I also cant find the original box etc.

EDIT: I've realised it is actually a 580W model, like all the others that have been known to explode.

If it was from OcUK, you'd usually need to contact Hiper direct as its over 12 months old - the manufacturer's usually handle warranty after 12 months.

However, I've a feeling Hiper are the full 3 years with the reseller so I'd call OcUK Tech Dept as they'll be able to search for your order via postcode or credit card number.:)

well this is the first iv heard of a blown 480w unit. usually its always the 580w ones. looks like the poison is spreading through out all the models.

wonder how hipers 670 and 730w psus are?

His PSU was actually the 580w version, he added an edit to his first post :)

Well this is sorted now, I would just like to say thanks a lot to the OCuk support team for finding and posting my proof of purchase. I can only wait now and see what Hiper have to say. The model was actually a 580w model, I made a mistake in my first post.

Im on no 3.. or would be had it not failed this week having been installed on the 5th of Sept! I will be calling em again this week and Im gonna bitch about the cost of posting this crud back to them every time it dies.

Have one these 580's laying around that i pulled from a system due to very unhealthy noise and causing sudden power downs on very basic PC...
