They are saying it'll be released late in the day on Valve time (PST), so we probably won't be able to play it until tomorrow now, unless you're an insomniac that is.

Makes you wonder what happened with the original TF2 though doesn't it? There was videos released and everything but it just never got anywhere.

I have to admit this does look a lot better though

Last i checked theres thing called "automation", meaning a server or whatever could be told when to unlock the files.

TF2 has been a game people have been waiting for longer than HL2 so i really dunno why they didn't do the same unlocking scheme.
