PS3 HDD Replacement

Does upgrading the HDD void the warranty? :confused:

There was no mention of this in the PS3 sticky.

Nope, you can change the hard drive without it affecting the warranty.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Sony even tell you how to do it in the manual - I would keep hold of the original HDD though, then if it does go wrong you can just swap the original back before sending off for repair.

As others have stated, you don't void your warranty if you upgrade or change your ps3's hdd. Definitely keep the original encase you have to exchange for a new or get one repaired in the unlikely chance that it should breakdown.

If you look in the FAQ's theres a link to the 160GB drive that i have in my PS3, on another note thanks for pointing out that I didnt mention it not voiding your warranty will add it ASAP.

Just another quick one, after you've installed and formatted the new HDD, can you then take them both out hook them up to a PC and transfer the data (ie. Game downloads)? Or is the data entered into a system registry?
