PS3 HDD Replacement

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Sony even tell you how to do it in the manual - I would keep hold of the original HDD though, then if it does go wrong you can just swap the original back before sending off for repair.
 
As others have stated, you don't void your warranty if you upgrade or change your ps3's hdd. Definitely keep the original encase you have to exchange for a new or get one repaired in the unlikely chance that it should breakdown.
 
Thanks guys, this has made me a happy man, and goes to show that reading the manual isn't always a bad thing (I still fully intend on never reading one of those things though :D).
 
Just another quick one, after you've installed and formatted the new HDD, can you then take them both out hook them up to a PC and transfer the data (ie. Game downloads)? Or is the data entered into a system registry?
