GP4 or F1 Challenge

Well I don't get it, I wiped then reinstalled the mods and trackpacks etc, but still get the inside of the pit garages and the pit wall crew as just plain grey - no colours/textures at all.

Getting a couple of white boxes as well, but I've seen other people with that so hopefully I'll be able to sort that one.

Anyone else having trouble with missing textures?

Also, what should the 2007 Japanese GP be - Suzuka or Fuji? It says Fuji on the mod, but loads Suzuka ingame.

Go to the "Options" and then "Graphics" screen in the game and untick the radio buttons next to "Arcade Overlays" and "TV Overlays".

This will get rid of the white boxes.

also set textures to high in options if not already.

Well I don't know what's happened tonight but I'm now getting error messages about the language files (.str) being corrupt, CSm saying there is "no clean exe", CSM not being able to talk to TSM and now plain vanilla GP4 is telling me Suzuka is the Brazillian GP!
(yes, I'm driving Japan a lot just now!)

Looks like I'm going to have to uninstall and reinstall everything including the plain game :(

ok guys, really would like to try this out but struggling to understand exactly what I need and where to find it. Can someone post an idiot's guide with working linkies please..........

Are those screenies on page 1 possible or are they chopped?

thouse screens are in game shots, and i posted how to install correctly a page or 2 back,

1 install gp4 succesfull
2 install gp4 patch succesfull
3 replace gp4.exe for decrypted(no cd) gp4.exe for version 1.02(9.6)
4 unzip the toolpack.
5 update it
6 download gpxpatch
7 install gpxpatch
8 open csm
9 file> install carset/update
10 open 2006 mod choose name for it and it will install 2006mod.
11 go to mod configurables and choose the options of your choice
12 start it and play

or

steps to install the mod:

1 install GP4
2 install microprose official patch 9.6
3 change gp4.exe file with the decrypted one (version 1.02)
4 install gpxpatch 3.91
5 install ZAZ TOOL BETA 5 and check for updates
6 from CSM option panel disable original wad and exe check
7 install the mod (CSM > File menu > Install Carset)
8 install tracks (TSM > Tasks > Install track) in correct order: PLUS TRACKPACK, 2006 PLUS SEASON UPDATE, 2007 PLUS SEASON UPDATE, 2006 TRACKPACK

9 launch gp4 one time WITHOUT THE MOD to configure your settings (graphics, sound, controller, etc.). in graphics options disable "arcade overlays" and "tv overlays", in advanced graphics options (advanced > manual) set geometry and texture details to "high" (!). other settings are your choice... I always prefer to set everything to high and see what happens ;o) ... exit the game saving your changes (popup window)

10 launch the mod (CSM > select "The mod´s configurables" > Start)

11 in the first screen select your driver > the symbol left to his name > in the next screen "car setup". now you can load one of the predefined carsetups coming with the mod (according to your circuit). without loading one of these setups you´ll only have 6 gears...

No I can't find it either. Been looking for answers but can't find any :(

Same. No joy with those options.

Got most of the mods working fine now. Having a couple of issues, notably all the cars have the steering wheel of whichever team I chose to drive for. Nothing serious :)

Had to do that complete install to get it to that state tho....

thats correct thou, you chouse the driver in csm and then in game you have the team's steering wheel, but acourse all other cars will have the same steering wheel also, but your only meant to be driving the car you chouse so it dont matter really.

That's fair enough then I guess.

I just kinda expected that if you were driving a McLaren, say, you would have their wheel, but if you then flicked over to spectate, say, Toyota, you would see the Toyota wheel in the that car.
All the textures are there, I guess it's just a quirk somewhere...

yeh thats true as they already have textures for different wheels in the game dont they, like you said must be a quirk, the only reason i know its right is because after reading on the mod forums a lot have asked the same question as you.

i just spent a few hours reading all 40 pages of the 2006 mod here great forums bookmark it ok ;) http://www.grandprixgames.org/list.php?4 actual thread here http://www.grandprixgames.org/read.php?4,610522

All 40 pages?? Ouch!

Good effort though.

I found someone else with the exact same problems I'm having on the grandprixx forums. Linky: http://www.grandprixx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1285&highlight=

Same problems with the wheel, their screenshots are exactly what I see too...the only difference is I don't get the gpxpatch error message on exiting.

but there's not a problem with the wheels m8, thats how it is meant to be, what ever driver you chouse thats the steering wheel you will have for the car, chouse Ferrari driver and you get Ferrari steering wheel etc, like tony says the actual mod maker below.

1, choose another driver from the CSM Configurable tab - it automatically chooses the right wheel per team.

Yeh the wheel thing was more of a surprise than a concern. It's not like you normally see them when you're blasting round afterall....

The error messages are a pain, but there don't appear to be any problems. The mods load, play, and unload fine. Firing up the original game directly loads the old cars and tracks etc, so everything is doing what it should. Bizarre, but there you have it I guess. I can live with it.
