I'm looking to buy a bottle of Krug Grand Cuvee for a mate's engagement party and would naturally like to get it as cheaply as possible. I normally use thedrinkshop.com, but it's nearly £100 a bottle (delivered) from there. I've managed to locate another place called winedancer.com that is about a tenner cheaper, but the website looks a little unpolished. Has anyone here ever used winedancer, or can recommend somewhere decent and cheap that I can get the aforementioned bottle of Krug from?

You can obviously do whatever you want with your cash but unless he's a connoisseur, I wouldn't waste your money mate.

Try your local Tesco, not all of them sell it or even have labels for it on the shelves if they do sell it. Ive currently got loads of it sitting in my stock room but its not on the system so no idea on price (was £80 a bottle last time it was on sale).

The average drinker won't be able to tell the difference between a £20 bottle from Tesco's and a £100 bottle.

Jokester

Tis a fair point, unless he knows his wine and champagne in particular you are paying a lot for a label.

If he doesnt know his wine and champagne well, then save the money and buy a cheaper bottle, spend the money on him some other way

I agree with others who say that the average person can't tell the difference cheap and expensive champagne.

However when I get champagne for a gift I usually pay about £40 for a boxed bottle of Bollinger. The box is nice and most people will realise Bollinger is James Bond's preferred champagne. :)
