CH 4 - You're not splitting up my family

Was rather interesting watching this as the two twins are my Step Sisters Cousins so I have her point of view what they were like.

She says the program shows exactly how their Dad was and none of the family even knew about this film. She has pictures of her with the twins when she was younger before their mother died and says her death totally changed their life.

I feel for them although they are not related to me as such and by mind they have had one hard life so far.

I think they just want to get as much out of life as they can now rather than planning for the future since they have had such a hard child life It would be hard not to.

this program is probably not as uncommon as you think also could swap the father for a mother and have the same result in a majority of cases.

working in this line of work since 96 i can relate to this prog well.
It was interesting to note that very little actual support was offered to the family and instead all the dad got was the consequences of his actions.

Whilst there are still many cases that I come accross I can say that the level of care and support these families receive now is fantastic. The best bit is that all services now talk to each other and we give the families a change to make their own decisions.

Yes there will always be the minority where you can make little impact but on the whole it works.

btw I thought the prog was very good as it gave a real life insight as to why the care system in the 90's failed young people.

Probably due to the fact that the majority of women keep the children and not the men.

I think the mother nearly always gets to keep the children but I can't see why that is. I don't think a mother is naturally a better parent than a father but the courts always award the care to the mother.

Indeed.

Could say the same about a lot of corporate lawsuits too...
