Yes thats right, after all the slating the CBR125 got for being a 4-stroke Yamaha have followed in their footsteps and released pictures of the '08 range, next year to include the Yamaha R-125! I have to say it looks quite nice for a learner machine, a bit more bulk than the CBR did (I owned one they are like a toy rather than a road machine)

here are the pics!

What do we think guys?

Looks good and 4 stroke are so much better than 2 stroke.

But why don't they release 250 learner legal ones. At least you could then deristrict it when you passed and have a reasonable bike.

I suppose really there is less call for the 250's on the market, lots of people use the 125's and stick with the CBT only and use them for commuting machines, those who pass their tests ususally get 400+ and restrict them for 2 years, whip them out and get a fast bike thereafter.

Yeh I see your point, I think a mid range and cheap bike, easily restricted 14bhp/33bhp/unrestricted cheap and easy to do, would fit the market really well. Not everyone can afford to change bikes or need the power of a 400+ for commuting.

I dont think the yamaha, like the honda, will be able to be de-restricted, I believe its all tuned only to ever produce about 13bhp tops! Could be wrong with the yamaha but i would have thought they would have taken on the same principle.

In that case, that's shockingly bad.

There's no such thing as a learner legal 250 - the law is under x amount of horsepower AND under 125cc.

And don't know 2-strokes - for a small bike, a fourstroke will NEVER ever match the power and fun of a stinkwheel.

I'd never have another fourstroke MX bike unless the strokers were banned.

In this weeks MCN, it shows Kawasaki's new mini sports bike, a 33hp 250 twin, aimed at those who just passed their test and dont want the jump to a 600 sports bike.
Could be the start of a new breed of small sports bikes.

125's are a lot sexier than those available when i was 17.Closest i got to anything decent was my LC125.

Looks good but its STILL only a 125 :p they need more affordable 125's because lets face it you dont keep it long and most of the time you drop them.
