TF2 BETA - OcUK Community Nights - 8:30 All Week

Played last night :)
Joined the community room and went to play. Darn the alt-tab bug, and the joining game through friends list bug.

Game is very frantic, Realised I have slowed down since HLDM days!

Just had a game, playing as Engineer when defending & Soldier when attacking, as I used to with TFC :D

Great game!

I found it sort of enjoyable but a bit slow...i felt like I wanted to change the FOV for some reason....and the rocket launcher takes ages to fire when pressed a little hit and miss really
kept getting stabbed by the darn spy people lol.....the heavy weps guys was great tho

I'm getting to like the slightly slower pace, I think it'll open up more tactical games rather than weapon spam and relying on snap reflexes. It's not all slow though, there are some hectic bottle necks on most maps.

If you setup a sentry at the right point on 2Fort it's nearly impossible to get in until it's destroyed as it can cover both the Entry Point and the Water Entrance :D

I got the hang of the engi last night and thought Valve have done a good job of keeping him as the center piece of a team. The new dispensers are a lot better than the old ones, which were rarely used unless you used them as spy detectors.

It seems you cannot rotate a sentry once placed, which is a sad omission, although it is a beta so it can be changed. Right now I find TF2 too fast paced over TFC. Things in TF2 just seem to happen a lot more rapidly and I commented to some friends that it felt like TFC-DM at times.

Just to add as there has been a bit of confusion in this post earlier on. Not sure whether this has already been clarified, but you can rotate the SG before you place it on the floor by pressing the right-mouse button. I found it a bit odd placing the SG backwards as in the old TFC you would build it in front of you but it would be facing you. For some reason they've defaulted to it being the other way round, although it does make sense from a practical point of view, just not used to it after all those years on TFC :D

This is okay but we want to rotate whilst placed ;[

Yeah I know but it's the only way to do it until they mirror a few of the bits that were in TFC. I'm still surprised at the lack of grenades. Yeah less spam, but less tactics now too which is a bit of a shame...

You found your first sentry facing the wall as well? :p

Lol yeah, it was a bit of a surprise really. I couldn't actually tell during the build process until it was actually finished, and then I had to blow it up and put down another. Thank goodness I figured out that right-click rotates before building :)
