Daddy Long Legs are not the Most Venomness Creature

The are very poisonous, but remember we are talking about this:

So that spider has more lethal poison then a black widow, why would it need it when its so small

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I went to school in the Canary Islands and the playing grounds were covered in these. No injuries ever recorder and the lil critters must have suffered a fair bit. It was almost a shocker to see an 8 legged spider. Considering ages ranged from 3-18 I'd expect a fair few people must have eaten them as a dare too.

Conclusion: harmless

More important than how venomous they are is how annoying they are.

When its crane fly/daddy long legs season they are everywhere. I have to keep my door shut otherwise you get 1-2 in every hour, every night. Plus they are slow and stupid so flit around the light. Unlike other stuff which flies out of the room quick or just stays on the wall somewhere.

Daddy long legs = Crane Fly. Never heard of a jimmy spinner.

The spider otherwise called the daddy long legs (top picture) is not very venomous at all.

Jimmy spinner !!! What on earth is that northern nonsense :D

That's not northern nonsense, that's Gilly nonsense :p

Heard the odd few people call them Jimmy Longlegs, and Jenny Longlegs, but most people I know just call them Daddy Longlegs. Never heard anyone call one a Jimmy Spinner before.

Why are the daddy long legs flies so damn retarded ? I've seen one fly into a candle* ffs how can they still exist?

* yes this does rank up there as one of the funniest things I've seen :p

News to me, someone told be this myth ages ago and I thought it was a bit suspect then. So own up who thought it was true?

I believe this myth arose from the fact that the Daddy Long-Legs is known to eat the Red Backs which certainly are amongst the top few most venomous spiders. Why on Earth one would assume that it was more venomous simply because it eats Red Backs, I don't know but that's what I heard.

I have removed a couple of White Tails from indoors in the past several months and I don't know how they are in anyone's Top Ten of venomous spiders.

After only briefly reading the first page, there's only one thing I have to say.
