New learner legal 4-stroke Yamaha!

Why would you want that while Aprilia are still in business? :/

Amen to that - 2 stroke are a lot more fun than 4 stroke. I preferred my derestricted RS125 to the 600 that followed it.

New Yam is a nice looking bike - although I'd need to see one on the flesh to judge if it looks too toy-like.

Looks good and 4 stroke are so much better than 2 stroke.

But why don't they release 250 learner legal ones. At least you could then deristrict it when you passed and have a reasonable bike.

I think the R125 looks a fantastic bike. Would much rather have that against hondas current CBR 125.

About the 250 subject. Just read in MCN that Kawasaki are bringing out a 250 Ninja, its going to be a 4 stroke Parallel Twin with 30 hp. Looks like its gona be a great sports bike for people like me who are stuck with 33bhp limit for 2 years!

pfff what waste of a great looking bike by putting a piece of crap 4-stroke in it.. should have used a easily derestricted 2 stroke in it.

There has always been a 250 ninja just not sold here the americans love them.. i guess they are updating the currants 80's styling and releasing it here.

'Its not what everyone wants these days. When i was 17 i much prefered to have a 4 stroke V twin rather than a 2 stroke.'

I'm sure a lot of people would like the option of destricting a 2 stroke and getting 30+
hp then geting a 4 stroke and be permanatly restricted to under 15hp. Especially since this bike is at least gonna cost £3000 probably closer to 4.

Its not always about power. I would much rather have the learner legal limit of around 15 hp and just cruise along rather than a high reving buzzing little engine. Everyone has a different preference.

The price of the R125 is said to be close to Hondas £2599 CBR 125.

Yamaha are bringing out this btw

Looks nice i think.

Looks really smart that. Always had a thing about Supermoto style bikes aswell. Its just a shame i can never seem to safely put my feet down. Was considering either a single (supermoto) or a V twin when i am finished with the FZ6.

Because not all people want a bike that sounds like an angy wasp or has the maintenance overhead of a two stroke.

I know the RS125 is a great bike, but it's not the easiest 125 to live with for anyone doing longer rides/commutes frequently.

CG125 for commuting, Aprilia for tweaking racing & fun. Those Aprilias break 120-130 on the Isle of man. Most will be easily tweaked to 110 & the early ones you only had to lift the seat & unplug 1 wire for a 90mph 1T
No way would i go for a 4 stroke crapper that was restricted if i was going for a 1T.
There are not many pleasures a young person can have that match Screaming the **** out of a 2 stroke stinking up the countryside with 2 stroke oil. It is a Right of Passage for All.
Of course they need looking after & regular rebuild but that is how us mech heads learnt what we know now.
Those that want to plod along on restricted 4 strokes shouldn't get a bike in my opinion. A Mule perhaps or one of those gay Leccy bikes.

Well depends the RS is quite a tuned bike so requires a bit more maintence and looking after but a medium tune 2 stroke like a DT or NSR 125 can put out 26+ horses and need very little maintance.

^^ Agreed the NSR is a very reliable solid bike even after garage type tweaks/mods.

Yuck. That goes for all Yam's now.

If you want a decent looking 125 you need a Derbi GPR125, if you want a fast one you go for an Aprilia RS125, if you want a 4 stroke, buy a car or a 600 or bigger :D.

I was going to sell my ZX6 and go for a nice shiny new FMX650, until I learned it only had 30bhp.

I seriously hate Yam's, they're cheap looking and are made with sugar paper.

Surely you mean "If you want a bit of playschool tat with all the resilience of a damp tissue, buy a Derbi"?
