Famitsu hints at Final Fantasy VII remake?

Probably be best to make it an easter egg in the first FF on PS3 - just like Ridge Racer has done in the past - leave it totally untouched

Im sure some would buy that game just for added value of the egg...

ps3ud0

Every FF since has been a poorer attempt. VIII and IX weren't bad really, but from then on it's not had the best of times, an easy financial fix would be to re-release FFVII.. and yes, it would save the PS3.

That's not really the same thing as a proper conversion though, is it? I'd pay £30 for the game again, but asking me to pay £400-500 to play it? Sony can go &"(! themselves ;) - doesn't fix OoT either :) Im a little suspect on the quality of emulation on something like a PSP in the first place, mind.

FF7 can be perfectly played on the PSP already, looks really nice on the small LCD too.

With ridiculous comments like that you're just not qualified to participate in any discussion of a VII remake.

Help yourself to a free Ether on the way out.

It could do with some of the improvements that were in viii and later ones, like using the r1(or r2, cant remember now) in limit breaks and the like to do extra damage, i used to think that was so cool at the time.

i also would like to see a change from the battle system that is in vii, seems like that style has been done to death now. i cant say i was happy with what they tried to do in xii, it just wasnt involving enough.

although you cant really remove materia from the game it would help if they altered the effects slightly as by the end of the game the only thing that really defined a character was what limit break they had and whether or not their weapon was long range or not(so you didnt have to use an extra slot for the long range materia) as they were pretty much all the same.

maybe an altered version of the sphere system in x but not with the ability to max out every stat if you wished to

I'm sure most would agree that some changes and additions would be welcome to the original VII system.

That feature where you had to time the button press in VIII was good. It added a bit more involvement to it.

Doesn't really get round the other point though does it?

Although lots of people enjoy FF7, I dont think many of them will want to pay £400+ for the soul priviledge of playing the original version on the move. £30 if it's released as a standalone game is fine, but having to have ps3/psp/presuming a copy of the original game, is just a little much. A simple DS/PSP port would be much much better, a lot cheaper, and would have a much wider market. Not to mention it still doesnt help me play OoT on the move as mentioned even earlier on ^_^

If you make too many changes it doesn't really count as a remake. It would just be a new game telling the same story. Might as well make up a new story to go with it.

I have owned my copy of FF7 since I bought it in 1998 and paid £44.99 for it IIRC. My PSP I bought off of a forum member second hand. I don't do piracy, and I believe I have every right to do what I do.

what you believe and the law dont agree on this one. but that isnt for this thread and you know we shouldnt be talking about this stuff on these forums:)

oh and...

PLEASE PLEASE GOD PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE

well there is some kinda remake called "Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII" being bandied about at the moment on gametrailers.com only in japanese though

Could this be what the speculation is all about.

Nope, that's not a remake, but part of the "Compilation of FFVII". Advent children, dirge of Cerberus etc etc all being part of it. It's an action (non rpg) game set just before FFVII, with Zack as the primary char.

And James, yes I know the law, but I certainly wouldn't get prosecuted for it, taping stuff off of the T.V is also a crime remember ;)

Yeh but im worried they will make a complete hash of it like they did with Tactics Advance :(

But Tactics Advance wasn't a remake. It was a separate game with similar gameplay. The new one on the PSP is the original game but with a new translation (the first was terrible apparently) and a few things added. There's also Tactics A2 on the DS which is a sequal to TA and most probably will be a bit poo.

if they remade ff7 with the graphics of crisis core id be sold that game looks and plays sweet (jap import) pity i cant read japanese tho :)

i own Tactics Advanced on the GBA... man its okay but turns into a snore fest pretty quickly. gave up because the levels all seem the same and the end just want in sight lol
