Even a DX10.1 card is no match for Crysis?

Go get your eyes checked. The textures in crysis are simply miles above any other game out at the moment. Many of them are almost photorelaistic. The 360 version (especially) of alan wake will have weak textures compared with crysis.

Most of these pictures are resized, lossy, settings on medium/low..

My pictures are of everyting as far as it will go in the beta and the screens look amazing.

i feel like i have entered atwilight zone where everyone is completely blind.

I feel sorry for developers who make the best looking game seen so far and then the one thing people hate on it for are....the graphics???

truly wierd world we live in.

Them screenshots, how the hell can anyone say they are miles better than the Alan Wake shots?

Because crysis is clearly better. I agree alan wake looks very good and is definately one of the best looking games.

I was also referring more to his comment that crysis barely looks better than far cry......I mean seriously.
 
Hmm, no game can look in its full glory from a screenshot or a in game trailer, you need the game running infront of you to get real idea of it.

Crysis should look the best anyone has ever seen, and hopefully we will see a polished nearly 100% completed coded demo on 25th, but again you cant judge most final games by a demo.

Crysis also stated they were not aiming for photo realistic, I dont think that would make a game good IMO.

Exactly. Having played the beta i allready think crysis is by far the best looking game so far and thats only from the beta!

That's on a 360 as well, Remedy said they will have photo realistic graphics so we'll see.

I'll probably change my opinion when we get the Crysis Demo though, just the Beta is really poor I think.

Actually these screens are from X06 and it wasn't a X360 but a PC Quad 6700 @ 3.7GHZ
 
comparing those screen shots alone, the crysis ones are franky pretty average. the fogging is unrealistic and the lighting is very basic. alan wake is very well lit and it shows in those pictures.

time will tell if the release game looks that good.
 
I can only assume that Alan Wakes storyline will totally destroy Crysis's. On that account im way more interested in Wake.
 
Alan Wake gets it's rear end handed to itself by Crysis in the graphics department, there's just no contest. Alan Wake looks like a source engine game. The texture res is awful, the bump maps are awful and basically non existant. It seems their engine doesn't even cast shadows on dynamic objects. The only thing it has going for it is the lighting and that ain't even that great. Lets remind ourselves of the graphical goodness that Crysis has to offer;

OK lunarwolf so you have no opinion based on the available information? That's fine, don't post then.

IMO the Alan Wake screenshots look far better than the Crysis ones above, however the shots chosen aren't the greatest sample to illustrate this point.
 
Hes right alan wake looks like the source engine on steroids. Crysis is far more impressive. Seriously i bet the textures up close in alan wake look like ****. In the crysis beta if you got up to most surfaces up close they looks pretty much photorealistic.
 
those above screenshots for crysis look better than wake, and lets find out which game will have lesser hardware requirements when they come out.
i got a feeling cryengine2 will be far more efficient.
