Seen this article, don't know if there is any truth in or not but these new GPU's sound a bit of alright, those considering buying the 2900pro may be better of waiting, though no prices have been set yet, i don't expect them to be expensive considering ATI need to make up ground on the big green monster.

RV670 will have RV670 XT and RV670 PRO, their symbols are Gladiator and Revival, that is to see there will be Radeon HD 2950 XT and Radeon HD 2950 PRO.

For specs, Gladiator, core clock 825MHz, 512MB GDDR4, 1.2GHz, Revival, 750MHz, 256MB/512MB GDDR3, 900MHz. Both of them used 55nm technology, bit-width 256-bit, support DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.1, PCI-E 2.0, UVD and new generation CF technology.

Why does it have a high end name when its specs are lower than the 2900xt???
Or has ATI made this card more balanced?

Well i would say the fact that the 2950xt is on the 55nm process and has 512MB GDDR4, 1.2GHz, makes it higher spec than the 512mb 2900xt.

Whats this supposed to mean? Its true, or higher latencys, its one or the other, I aint a memory expert but it seems like its just like DDR2 - DDR3 atm, higher speeds, high timings compared to DDR2's lower timings, just its with the graphics memory.

Personally I can't see the point in this card? If it's going to be a bit better than the 2900 XT, kinda like a 640MB GTS -> GTX then it'll be on par with a 8800 GTX or slightly above it when it comes out, and Nvidia will just smash them with their 8800 GTX replacement in Jan 08.

Unless they let it be a faster Master in some new-fangled Super Crossfire which boosts a vanilla 2400 to similar speeds :p

Then again, perhaps not !

Agreed. With a new gen on the horizon, xmas could be a bad time to be buying a new card.
