Story wise my 15 month old son could come up with a better and more coherent story than Gow and he only says about 10 words; "Daddy", "Mummy", "Thank you", "Caaat!", "Doggie", "In a Minute" & "Hair".
hahahahahaha just shows the mentality of those fanboys they will try anything even draging there 15month old son into the picture heh.
There is no denying I am a Halo fanboy. I absolutely love the series, but I am also the first to admit it has many of its flaws.
However these flaws are minor in comparison to the GoW ones (I do like the game but as far as I'm concerned it is a Tech Demo for the Unreal 3 Engine)
I absolutely love Halo, because the developers and writers did a very good job of implementing the game, Halo 1 looked amazing for its time, was challenging, varied (well except for the cut and paste library) had a great implementation of vehicles, a very good story great acting, great music score and one of the firs implementations of 5.1 in a games console game (if not the first). The enemies in the form of Elites had great AI and each encounter (in hard and legendary) was a proper fight, not a case of just using maximum fire-power, you could not run through the covenant army all guns blazing, you had to use cover, you had to think about what you were doing, you had to balance your weapons correctly, you had to make your shots count and you had to systematically weaken the enemy forces. The flood were an overbearing uncompromising wave(flood) of enemies undeterred by physical pain or death, and you felt that. You knew that it was you or them and there was a lot of them.
Halo2 was much of the same, better graphics more environments and some new challenges, the story was a bit weaker, but I put that down to the fact the story stopped. However where it lacked in single player it more than made up for in multi-player. Of all the online games for the 360 I think it has the best matchmaking and games lobby. It had stats gathering, which I am yet to see on any other game, it had varied game types and levels.
Halo 3 from what I have seen and played has raised the bar even further in the MP arena, they have taken what was already in place and improved the stats gathering and included the ability to make videos of your games. This is not just good its not just revolutionary it's extraordinary. From what I have played of Halo3 MP it is probably one of the most fun experiences I have ever had, and I was only privy to 3 levels and a handful of toys. To be able to have a great gaming experience and then say, "You know what, that was one of the best combacks ever, lets save it and show it to our mates" You no longer have to "Claim to have done something amazing you can show people".
Forge again, a stroke of genius, you can not only edit maps, but you can do it in real time and in battle. you can get a group of mates into a party and you can customise a map together, testing it as you go along.
There is no doubting that Epic are the better Graphical games engine maker, but that's about it. The A button for the "stop and pop" was a nice feature. But Halo is already a stop and pop game and it does not rely on a button to enable that. Furthermore in terms of graphics all I have seen from the Unreal 3 engine so far are small enclosed maps. Halo3 has a 1 mile draw distance. It is outside and has huge expanses. It may not have the detail but it is still doing some impressive graphical stuff. IIRC it also has a larger colour pallet.
As I said. GoW seemed like a rushed tech demo to me. and I hated its Online Lobby. You had to end the party to make a game change FFS.
Then there was the stuff Alrik has mentioned.
