After getting frustrated at the high temperatures I was getting with my pc7 (original) I decided to increase the cooling a bit. I increased the size of the 80mm exhaust hole

to fit a 120mm sharkoon se2000, which was so tight that it is quite happily held in without any screws.

I cut out all the restrictive metal covering most of the front dust filter in the removeable dust filter holder so that the filter can be removed without taking out the metal box. This, along with unscrewing the 3.5" bay, allowed me to fit a 120mm yate loon above it. I also cut out between the 80mm holes at the bottom of the front of the case so that the 120mm fan I put in strapped to the bottom hdd box gets decent airflow.

The bits of string hanging out of the fan is to pull the silicone grommets though...

The most major change though was to fit an antec 200mm fan into the case roof, which required drilling the lid rivets and cutting into the main chassis, as well as cutting notches into the fan plastic so that the case sides could slide on (the middle metal latches were getting stopped by the fan)

The air intake holes were then covered with hexx meshfor prettiness...

(apologies for sidewaysness of that pic)

The mesh was cut to exactly fit in place rather than a sheet put behind the case front plate, as there wasn't enough space what with the 120mm fan in between the front plate and the main case. I used araldite to glue the bottom mesh, and the mesh in the 3.5"bay in just pushed in place (needed fairly exact sanding of the mesh edges!). This is so that if I should need to use the 3.5" bays in the future I can :)

Yeah probably overkill, but the 20cm fan doesn't spin that fast, makes little noise and pulls a lot less air than the sharkoon exhaust fan, plus the upper 120 at the front is blowing air directly at the cpu hsf. Anyway, was good fun modding it and I can now run my 4300 at 3.4 so far so I'm happy :)

Awesome cooling.

Sorry for the little question but is that an Alphacool fan controller and if so how do you find it.

Edit: Apologies - the Alphacool is for a 3.5 inch bay. The Coolermaster Aerogate 1 is obviously in a 5.25 in bay.

Job well done there, looks nice and clean.

Also it's great to see people still using the old PC7 cases, it's a testament to their quality that they're still in use today and don't look a single bit dated.:)

That's a quality mod, the 200mm fan is the proverbial icing on the cake. Does anyone know if you can get dust filters for that fan? (I think its from the Antec brand).
