Sister went to work, left her brand spanking new N70 on charge and hid it under a pillow from her dog. Unfortunately when she got home, dog had managed to get it, chew it up a little and completely wreck the screen and put teeth marks into the phone itself.

Now, she has some pictures and contact information she would like of the phone but due to not being able to see anything on the screen because it's cracked in numerous places I thought I'd try it on the PC and connect to it and pull all the information off through Nokia PC Suite 6.8. The phone however doesn't seem to be set up for USB connectivity as when I plug the phone into the PC it isn't even picked up so I'm guessing USB is set to off or what settings need switched on for connecting through USB are switched off.

I'm told that I need to go to : Options -> Settings -> Connectivity -> switch USB on. Not sure if it's that simple however, but that's what I managed to find out.

Anyone possibly have a N70 that can tell me the exact buttons to press from when switching the phone on to getting USB connectivity on?

buy that.. you'll need a T6 screwdriver too but they're easy enough to get hold of.

That's just a new fascia, not a new screen. I don't see how that's going to help.

Anyway, when you plug the USB cable into the phone and computer, the phone will pop up a box asking which USB mode you would like. I suspect that PC Suite mode will be the default one selected, so you should just have to press the centre select button to choose this option.

didn't see the lcd was smashed, you will be able to get another easily enough and you often don't have to solder them on.

When you plug in the USB cable you should just have to press the top left menu button, that will choose Nokia PC suite and the pc should then see it OK.

i had a n70 this year, well in fact i had 3. I could not get any of them to connect to the pc, i found this phone to be fairly poo actually.

Sorry, forgot to say thanks for the replies. We managed to get the information off the phone and the phone itself has been RTM'd in hope of a dog-proof replacement :-)
