Does anyone remember Euro 96 when during interviews the england team put a bet on amongst one another to see who could covertly get the most song titles into their interviews !? It was on a documentary some months ago and it was hilarious.

Can't find anything on it on that there intarweb, which probably means im completely off the mark.

So can anyone find any videos or interviews?

Cheers :)

Yeah, I remember that - Shearer said during his interview that "The winner takes it all!". Been trying to google but can't turn anything much up I'm afraid.

NME's publisher IPC is the official magazine supplier to France 98 and, as part of the deal 22 copies of NME are sent out to the England team each Wednesday.

That'd be why you can't find it then...

I liked it when the media found out, and they questioned Shearer, and his response was another song title. For a man like Shearer with the personality of a newt, it was very funny.

I thought that about Shearer too, but apparently away from the mics he's a real character.

That was brilliant when they were doing that. I can remember an interviewer asking what conditions were like at the training camp and Southgate replying that it was "hardly Club Tropicana". Genius!

Edit: Covered in that article in fact

Funny. I always got the impression Shearer was/is quite a clever, articulate funny guy.

Compare this to Rio Ferdinand.

P.S. you have far too many posts :O
