Odd temp readings after Tuniq installation.

I am just testing my cpu temps after installing a Tuniq Tower. My setup is as follows.

Epox 9nda3+
Opteron 165
x1950 agp
Crucial Ballistix
Tuniq 120 Cooler.

I have been running prime on both cores and am getting very differend readings from mbm5 and core temp. MBM5 is reading 64  whilst core0 and core1 topped out at 50. What is going on.

The Opteron is running at 2.8Ghz with 1.5v through it.

Any feedback would be most welcome.

Yep it's not that unusual. The PWMIC area on the motherboard was probably designed for single core CPUs because the difference between single and dual core CPUs in that area on the motherboard is about 15c!

So the lower figure, as given by Core Temp, is likely to be the right one?

Oh right it's the motherboard reported CPU temp showing as 64c but CoreTemp shows 50c for the cores?

What are the other temps in the case like PWM area or motherboard? Can you post a screenshot of Everest showing the sensor page?

I don't know how to post an image but there are only three temp readings.

Motherboard - 34
CPU - 35
HDD - 36

These are all at idle. mbm5 showing cpu at 35 and casu, rather oddly, at - 30??. Core0 under core temp is 33, whilst core1 is 25. Core Temp readings seem to change all the time. is this normal?

To upload a screenshot have all the program running and visible on the desktop and you need to press the print screen key which should be at the top right of your keyboard near F12 and Pause.

Next you need to run the Paint program so click the Start button then All Programs then Accessories and finally Paint.

Next you press Ctrl-V or use the Edit menu in Paint to paste the screenshot.

Next you use the File menu to save it and make sure to choose JPEG in the Save as type box so it saves it as a jpeg file. It's probably best to save it in your Pictures folder.

Next open ImageShack in your web browser and click the "Browse" button and find the screenshot jpeg file you saved in your Pictures folder then click the "Open" button.

Finally click the "host it!" button and it'll upload the jpeg file to ImageShack and provide you with boxes containing links for you to copy and paste into the forum reply box.

The "Thumbnail for forums (1)" box is the one you want to copy and paste into the forum reply box so click it to make it turn blue and press the right mouse button and choose "Copy" then on here in a reply box click the right mouse button and choose "Paste" and you're done!

Now do a screenshot of CoreTemp and MBM (and latest Everest as that one is so old it doesn't show the core temps) and multi-core prime95 or Orthos while stressing both cores so can see the load temps. :)

The core temps are great with the CPU clocked at 2.7GHz with 1.5v. That CPU reading at 66c will be the motherboard reported CPU temp. Not sure why it's so high but I'd be inclined to ignore it. Perhaps it's reading from a temperature diode located near one of the hot spots on the motherboard such as the PWM area. You could try getting some more airflow into the case to see if that 66c temp drops a bit and also see if you can get your HDD temp to drop a little.

Cheers mate, that is reassuring, although I think voltage is 1.45v (+.1v in bios).

I just wish the opteron jad a higher multi, as I am sure it has 3ghz in it.
