Danny: Escaping My Female Body

Documentary about female-to-male transsexual, Danny Lee Sharkey. Born as Katie, he's been living as a man for four years and has been having male hormones injected fortnightly for the past year. Now, at 22, the time has come for him to undergo a dramatic surgical transformation that will physically change his body from female to male. The film follows Danny as he embarks on the first stage of his irreversible transformation with a double mastectomy, with complicated penis surgery to follow.


How the hell do you make a working penis out of a vagina? Can you choose your own size?
 
I have never really understood how they get away with saying these types of operations can 'change your gender'. If your going m-f your never gonna have a womb/ovaries or f-m its not really a penis.

All it really is is genital mutiliation. You might as well become some kind of human mutant dolphin ;)
 
I really don't know why, it was disgusting, but I watched a couple of episodes of 'Sex Change Hospital'. I'll probably be ban if I explain how a penis is made... :p
 
From what I understand the male hormones cause certain parts of the female parts to swell up in size and it then resembles the head of a penis. This is then cut away (not fully) with parts of the skin and flesh used to form the rest with normally some kind of shaping device (think bendy pipe cleaner!).

Doesn’t sound appealing in the slightest and hate to think what it ends up looking like. You could probably find a more correct and detailed description including photos via google but I’m too scared to look. :p

I think that’s what I saw a few years back, only got the brief description and then had to turn over as I hate anything surgical.
