Annoyed with Direct X 10 Hype...

The Console GPU's were Hybrids of PC ones, just ahead of the PC ones at time (PC had 7800's from Nvidia) so it was some kinda early 7900 in the PS3, still DX9C and not sure on the 360 and I dont know all the ATI models but it will be some R600 or R700 chip I guess, still DX9C AFAIK.

As Bioshock has some basic DX10 effects not a full DX10 game, I can only think ATI will run pure DX10 games like Crysis pretty badly esp if any AA enabled.

DX10 would be great if Vista wasn't such turd, XP with 2GB operates far more smoothly than the bloated mess that is Vista 64 with 4GB.

If we don't see DX10 for XP I'll just stick to playing games on PS3 to be honest.

we arnt going to see the best these company's have to offer us untill atleast the next range of cards, then we can pass judgemant on weather dx10 is worth the hype.
if one or the other company release a poor card by previous standerds then there is no excuse they have had a revision to correct mistakes/ optamize hardware so should be a much better dx10 product.
any company can release a dog any one remember the 5900's? iirc the dx9 performance on them was terrible its just the way things go sometimes.

I was reluctant to use my copy of Vista64 Ult, but now Im glad I did, still on 2GB till this week and never got a chance to run last 4GB kit on Vista it was XP32 & 64.

I am well happy, its better support wise than a while ago and games are now near same speed as XP and some are faster (look at reviews).

Vista runs really well if you got half decent hardware once supported well.

BTW, the FX5000 series was a ballsup, esp 5800/5900/5950's (the lower ones were not as bad).

That was Nvidia again being 1st and taking on a new manu process instead of keep clocking up older tech as ATI went on to do for a few more card releases (bit like older Intel with pure clocks over AMD method).

There was a bluepaper on this on a site back then explaining why Nvidia jumped over sooner rather than later and why it all went bad.

yep i was a bit of a vista hater at first but it has really come along, that and im using hardware that can take advantage of it lol!

Correct me if I'm wrong (dons flame proof garb) but I thought a lot of titles where now showing better framerates in dx10 over dx9 with the latest drivers for both cards?

I also thought that the 2900xt were now doing rather well in directx 10 (withh aa switched off) compared with GTX? If ATI get their AA problems fixed then it will be good all rounf.

Not many "true" directx games out yet (ignore poorly coded console ports which some don't even use any of the features of directx 10) so too early to say.

Even I must admit Call of Juarez looked miles better in directx 10 than it did on directx 9 but I agree it ran like a pig. Then again it ran like a pig in directx 9.

Bioshock hardly makes any use of directx 10 (a few water effects) but yet again it runs as fast of if not faster in vista.

I think directx drivers and games will mature over the next 6 months. You will start and see either better performance or better performance and extra effects in directx10 over directx9 however, this still doesn't excuse sloppy programming of which there are far too many examples of games which ought to run better than they do IMO.

Look up a review of WOrld in Conflict and you will see how much nicer it looks in directx 10 with full eye candy on. It will still bring your GTX to it's knees though. Perhaps the new G90 cards if they turn out to be 2 - 3 times quicker than a GTX will be our saviours?

You think Im stupid, I did Beta test it officially and unoffically run every Alpha/Beta/RC build, both the OS and ATI/Nvidia cards would have been given out and avail as enginering samples for testing, they cant make a DX10 OS without hardware to test how it runs, and they cant make DX10 hardware without software for it to run.

I still say ATI had a better chance as they made the card well after Nvidia and could have looked at Nvidias Architecture for ideas etc.

You seem to forget Nvidia since launching the 8800's messed about with crappy driver support for XP and more so Vista, its only recently they are back to their good Detonator/Forceware support standards.

Seem funny as any other time your in the Green Corner with GTX/Ultra is best bla bla.

You think Im stupid,

You do not make sense. They ARE THE BEST CARDS!!!!!!!!

Bla bla bla??????????, You said to me that you are much older previously but you act like this?. Grow up. I did not appreciate the last insult you gave me with the Scottish thing and that I don't act like it either.

Helmutcheese get a grip. Not once did I say or even think you are stupid.

Also on the X2900 front. ATI went with a different architecture so looking at the 8800GTX wouldn't have been very helpful. I don't think ATI expected this card to have the problems it's having today.

Get a grip yourself m8, and never tell me what to do or grow up you dont have any say in either matter.

I never said you said I was stupid, I asked the question.

WFT Scottish thing, I am Scottish so what did you imagine I said in a thread ?

Also looking at a RIVAL's Architecture WILL help, you can see strong and weak points and better it and learn from it.

Lots of arguing in the graphics card section tonight. It's Monday though, I don't think ATI would have been doing well if they just simply copied nvidias architecture. In theory both have there positives and negatives.

You saying we argue more on Mondays?

You wanna step outside..............????? ;)

Copied no but looked at yes, Japs dont really invent (or never used to years back) they buy, strip down/dissect and build it better/cheaper. :)

Good practice IMO.

And I aint arguing but he will keep it going as always.

Less of the grow up comments, you do like to get in last insult, well your not worth a ban basically.

I am just going to set you to ignore as thats best coarse of action, least when I do act up I dont try blame others and plead innocence.
