HALO 3 Official Thread

Halo 3 consol, it's rare yes, but its not going to go up in value over a short period of time. perhaps 10 years but is a couple hundred quid profit going to be worth it then?

I'm selling my premium for £180 today and buying the halo 3 console tomorrow, along with 3 copies of legendary, spartan and covenant controllers, Spartan headset, strategy guide, and anything else I can find.

Yes I'm a halo freak, i've been a fan for 8'ish years no way I'm going to miss out on anything on Halo 3,.

BTW anyone going to the IMAX launch tonight? If so, see you there!

Just pre-ordered too from the purple shop. £34.99 online with 11% cashback. So its about £31 if you do what i did. Should be here by tomorrow.

Well you've completely owned krono as the biggest halo freak ever :)

Halo 1 has very slow controls with what feels like acceleration used in a very strange manner.

Live is multiplayer.

I'll concede the story is deep for an FPS but that's really not hard at all. I've seen all the story, and not missed anything out. It just seems generic sci-fi to me with the generic human, swarm style aliens and technological alien races. Nothing special. The novels etc are all separate from the game though just like the starcraft novels don't magically make the StarCraft story deep :p

Sweet dreams, we can argue more when you wake up :p

Ok I agree that the Halo 1 controls are slower than Halo 2's but personally I like them :) Give it another try :(

Secondly Live is a form of multiplayer. Halo 1 had multiplayer even though Live wasn't even invented then

It certainly is deep for an FPS, it probably wasnt THAT hard but who cares? It worked beautifully and its kept a lot of people hooked to their screens. The second novel is based on the first game so it isn't seperate. The first is leading up to the discovery of Halo and the third is the gap between Halo 1 and 2.

I'm a bit disappointed that when I rang parcelforce up today and asked about my tracking number they said that GAYME hadn't dispatched them yet - apparently parcelforce are picking them all up tonight and they will be delivered tomorrow definitely. Thats for the people that chose "1 day express delivery"

I wanna go to the IMAX :( I certianly aint forking out for "Memorabilia" though.

And Kreeeee, I hate to break it to you but all the books were written using the Bungie Halo Bible. which few mere mortals have had the privilege to view. They were commissioned by Bungie and had to be approved by Bungie prior to being published.

The Halo novels are in canon and the game is considered to be part of the way Bungie are telling this story (obviously if Halo1 had not been a big success then the books and the movies and spinoff media would not have been published)

The first book (I can never remember the names) tells the story of how the Spartans were selected and trained ( a very good book)
The second is actually the written version of Halo1 ( with a bit of back story and insights into other characters not seen in the game but still arguably the weakest of all the books - written by a different author from 1,3,4)
The third book is the story of what happened after Halo 1 and before halo 2.
Book 4 is about the new Spartan program and book 5 will be about Sgnt Johnson.

All the books, comics tie in together with the game and are considered part of the story.

In that sense it is very rich and detailed. However as you say, nothing new, but what stories these days are not drawn from stories already told?

Edit: I would say the books give a very good history of Master Chief and show the motivation for is actions, but also show that is life has been one of tragedy, suffering, servitude and obligations.

Thankyou! :) I personally preferred the second book as it added bits to the storyline such as the bits with Jenkins and Keyes where he turns into a flood. I also loved the bit where they blow up the captured covenant cruiser :)

@The guy that bought all of the memorabilia, how can you get the controllers? They look absolutely hideous! Just because your a fan dosnt mean you need to get them... I received my strategy guide through the post today and Im very impressed :) It includes loads information about the online ranking systems which frankly are very confusing and how to unlock all of the new armour types :)
