Well having a revamp with my system at home and lookinh to go SFF with a Sugo so gonna get a new gfx card as well.. So any performance benchies between the 8800GTS 320Mb and the X2900Pro 512Mb and are they both nice clockers?

Not yet but jrodga2k5 is getting one tommorow by the look of things. It's supposed to peform like a 2900XT (when clocked to XT speeds). I'd wait for tommorow for jrodga2k5's review, things are looking good though :).

There has been a thread on this.

I'm not sure though on which card to go for.

I would guess the 2900Pro mainly due to its larger memory amount.

What screen res will you be playing at?

Anything higher than 1440x900 and then I'd get the 2900Pro without a doubt. Even then I'd still wait to see some benchmarks being brought to the table. If the 2900pro's overclock to XT speeds then I wouldn't hesitate.

8800GTS 320MB will overclock quite allot anyway, 2900Pro will have to be overclocked well behond 2900XT speeds to compete with an overclocked GTS, but 8800GTS 320MB is limited by having less memory so toss a coin.

I'm not so sure that is correct, allthough I cant really say much since my PC is a lemmon atm/

Well an overclocked 8800GTS@648/2000 is right on the heels of stock 8800GTX peformance and ahead in some game. How high do think a 2900XT/Pro will have to be overclocked to come near or better a 8800GTX with high levels of AA/AF consistantly?

Think that's the only thing that puts me off the 2900 really... the possibility that spending a little extra means the overclocking potential for the 8800 is so much better than the 2900.(although the 320mb card is stupidly low amount of memory for future games :( ) I haven't seen much in the way of overclocking 2900xt decently, has anyone else?

HD2900xt is a decent overclocker prob not as good as the gts but i
wouldn't say it was way behind. In an article i read they overclocked
both cards with stock coolers to what they could get and done a game
test both cards gained about 8 fps in that game so they were on par.

Thats the link above that does the comparison

Well those results are done at extreme resolutions where the increase from overclocking will usually be greatest and the increase is not exactly huge plus there are no 8800GTX comparisions or 8800GTS overclocking comparisions. Obviously the 2900XT does gain performance from overclocking but not as much as the GTS gains.

pro is not fairing too badly: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1189/13

seems like a good buy over the xt to save some cash. but if the gts gets down to 150 quid too, then its a different story.

Yeah I don't think it just works out like that (unsure).

What's happened Will??.

Nothing lol, I'm just saying I dont think what he said is correct, GTS overclocked aint way ahead of a 2900 overclocked for sure.

They still have the audatious nerve to call these SILENT is see. Any idea if they are actually any quieter than the XT?
