Football **Spoilers** 22/23 September

i didn't actually see this in the replays, from that angle it looks a little worse.

Wasn't that bad, just trying to trip Ronaldo, he never meant to catch his ankle like he did. Cole isn't that kind of player.

Yes he is. I've seen him do stupid things like that on numerous occassions. He did something similar against us last season and got dragged off because of it.
If he doesn't get his way he spits his dummy out by lashing out. Spoiled child.

Exactly - no way was he ever going to get the ball, so he took the man instead. Sometimes he can be a great player - other time he could just as easily be in the championship

Just out of interest, does the law prohibiting players brandishing imaginary cards to the ref, calling for bookings and sending offs, extend to managers?

I believe it does, but if you're talking in relation to Ferguson, that's not what he was doing. After turning his attention from the 4th official to the main official (who was quite a distance away) he was shouting, but actioning his feelings, not in the same way as a player waving it infront of the ref. It was just Ferguson talking with his hands more then gesturing for the referee to send him off.

I believe Ferguson was carded though.

Well he was holding up an imaginary card briefly whilst mouthing the words 'that's a red card' so if the same rules apply then he should've been booked.:)

fair enough, can't remember it ever being used when we've played in the CL though. The whole Barca side would have been sent off last year had it been used.

Only because I doubt the referee would have heard what he had to say from 40-50 yards away with the crowd screaming. It's different to a player going up to the referee (where he can speak) and waving it under his nose.

Anyone got a link to the Saha dive?

Which one are you talking about?

I know it's different but he should be setting an example.
Other managers would get slated for it so should he:)

BBC says Mikel has lost the appeal regarding the red card and rightly so :)

Also Terry could be in trouble muhaha :D

Shame that JC got a yellow for the challenge on Ronaldo otherwise I'm sure that would have been looked at too.

Its disgusting, but perfectly expected, that the Mikel appeal was unsuccessful. Why is Terry in trouble?

I think it's laughable for people to think Cole should've got a red for his tackle on Ronaldo. Players do that sort of thing all the time. Ronaldo got past him so he brought him down to stop him having a run at goal. It was a nothing challenge.

For grabbing the card out of the ref's hand and general crowding.

Dunno about the red card, could have gone either way. If it was a United player then I'd be ****ed but they've been given in the past. He caught his foot with studs and sent him cartwheeling, it looked pretty damn bad!

Why do think it's right he lost his appeal if you don't know about his sending off?

Yes, players barge others over or give them a little trip to halt their progress. They don't go in studs first at someones ankle.
