I'm upset :(

I've played DAoC on the Euro servers for 6 years on and off. When I started there were regularly 3K players on Excalibur each night and 2.5K on Prydwen.

Mythic introduced the Trials of Atlantis patch which meant that casual gamers couldn't just log in now and have some fun, they needed a fully opted template or they'd get wtfpwned! So, a lot of people left and the population began to decline, more so when that cartoon joke of an MMORPG WoW was released.

GoA clustered the servers of the same languages together to make the most of a bad situation, but that didn't help. I had a look the other evening and on the English cluster (Excalibur & Prywen) there were 100 players online and half of those were BBs! So in the space of 6 years we've gone from 5.5K players each night to 100! :(

GoA have stated they cannot do anything about this - they cannot cluster clusters. They can decluster them and recluster in a different configuration, but then they have the issue of language. GoA are contractually obliged by Mythic to retain one English language server, and as most English players cannot read or speak German or French to any standard it would seem to make sense that they just make the new cluster English. The only problem is that the 4K players who still play on the French and German clusters may have an issue with having their game changed to English to suit the 100 or so English players that still play each day. It's a no-win situation.

After running about for 5 hours on my Scout today and finding few n00bs to pwn, I've decided to buy two new accounts on the US servers and play there - it still has a great population (1K off peak - 2K prime time on the Kay/Pellinor cluster) and of course as it's ran by Mythic not those French ****s at GoA so we get proper in-game support and patches on time.

I would suggest that if any of you are considering playing Warhammer Online when it arrives, then please, please play in the US. In Europe it will be ran by GoA and they really couldn't give a rat's ass about your experiance, or the fact 6 years of your life is down the pan because they are too stupid to work out how to sort out language issues!

If any former/current DAoC players read this, then come US now please. Mythic offer a 14 day free trial and all expansions are free up to and including Catacombs - instances 4tehwin!

I will be playing a ickle Kobold Hunter on Kay named Conundrum, PM me if you guys make it that far and I'll /gc inv.

I had a great time, made some great friends (IRL Meets were awesome!) and have some very fond memories. Something that's been a massive part of my life for the last 6 years is over and I am gutted. I hope I can replicate that in the US, but I doubt that will be the case, I think those days have come and gone. I hope that Warhammer Online will take off and be as successful as DAoC was.

Kinda know how you feel. I spent a lot of time in Asheron's Call years ago. It's still running but you're looking at a few hundred or so people on a server max. I wish it wasn't so but that's the way it is.

If english speaking players in Europe don't want to play on the Euro servers I'm not sure what you think GOA could do?

I know where you're coming from - I bought the US version of DAOC again recently, moving to the euro servers was the worst thing I ever did.

I was stunned when Mythic announced that GOA would be hosting the euro servers for Warhammer. They're a complete bunch of tools :(

It's sad to see it's decline. I was one of Hib, Excal's first Lv50's and played back during the beta. There were some great gamers around then, and it was a lovely place to play in but then I lost interest. I returned to Middie, Excal when ToA came out but found that the game was mostly dead.

GoA were always llama's at their management, straight from day 1 then couldn't get things right and their GoA Daoc website was so flash heavy at the time that it was barely usable with around 50 flash elements alone on it.
